🔥 🏡 Today’s installation of a Charnwood C-Five Duo 5Kw multi fuel stove and stainless steel flue liner.
An insulated flue pipe was needed to protect the wooden mantle from heat. 🔥
Without it, it would have been too close to comply with building regulations. 👷🏼‍♂️ ✅

It used to be common practice to back fill flues with vermiculite insulation, although it does have some benefits to a better draw, it can cause other issues as it absorbs water. 💧
Then, when your stainless steel flue liner reaches the end of its life and needs to be replaced…. all that dusty vermiculite needs to come back out! 😅 💰💰💰

Ways to prolong your flue liners life:

✅ Regular sweeping

✅ Burning kiln dried or well seasoned wood
(moisture content below 20%)

✅ Not mixing fuels (coal and wood)

✅ Avoiding prolonged slow burns (slumbering)

✅ Preventing ingress of water with a rain/bird guard
