We get a lot of calls this time of year from people finding spiders in closets, garages, and even inside shoes or storage bins—and often, it turns out to be a brown recluse.

They’re not aggressive, but they will bite if they feel threatened—and their bites can be serious. The tricky part? They love hiding in quiet, undisturbed areas of the home.

Here’s what you can do to help keep them away:
🔹 Shake out shoes and clothes before putting them on
🔹 Declutter storage areas and avoid stacking boxes directly on the floor
🔹 Seal cracks and gaps around windows, doors, and baseboards
🔹 Keep your home clean and dry—brown recluses love a cozy hiding spot

Gnats and fruit flies seem to come out of nowhere—and once they show up, they don’t like to leave. They’re usually drawn in by overripe fruit, food scraps, dirty drains, or even damp sponges and mops.

Here are a few quick tips that actually help:
🍎 Toss overripe fruit and veggies
🌿 Indoor plants
🧽 Clean drains with boiling water or vinegar
🚫 Don’t leave dirty dishes or damp towels out overnight
🚮 Take out the trash regularly (they love the bottom of the trash can)

Not the most fun topic, but if you’ve ever found them around your trash cans, pet waste, or in the garage—you're not alone. Maggots are actually fly larvae, and they show up when flies find something to lay their eggs on... usually something smelly and organic.

Here’s the deal:
🪰 If you’re seeing maggots, the source is usually a hidden mess—an old trash bag, pet waste, a food spill, or something that’s started to rot.
🧽 The best solution is finding and cleaning up that source as soon as possible.
🛑 Once that's taken care of, we can step in and help with the fly problem to prevent more maggots from showing up again.
