📖 Story time... related to our earlier post today!
Earlier, we told you there was something wrong with this image. Some of you guessed correctly...
Yep... the TV is missing! 😳📺
"How does a TV just disappear?" I hear you ask...
Well, after years of working with Airbnbs and holiday lets, we've learned that some guests like to "acquire" a few souvenirs on their way out. The most common items tend to be:
🧻 Loo rolls
🍴 Cutlery
🛏️ Pillows
🧺 Towels
🥼 Dressing gowns
☕ Coffee jars
☕ Mugs
🧴 Hand soap and washing-up liquid
Usually, these things go missing during peak season when properties are busy and changeovers are back-to-back.
A few days ago, one of our team members arrived for a checkout at this particular property and immediately called the office.
"Andrea... this place is a disaster."
A few photos later, the phone rings again...
"Andrea... the TV is gone."
"The WHAT?!"
The entire 43-inch TV had vanished. Gone. Disappeared. Evaporated. Along with three desk fans and two throws. 👀
To make matters even better, they also left us a lovely little "tip" behind... a pair of worn-out pants and a property that looked like it had hosted a festival rather than a holiday. Thanks for that. 😅
Thankfully, the building has CCTV. The footage clearly shows the guests carrying the TV down the stairs wrapped up in the throws, presumably hoping nobody would notice a giant rectangle being casually removed from the property. 😄
All evidence has been passed to the police, our client will be compensated through Booking.com, and the guests have been banned from making future bookings through the platform.
On a more positive note, I'd like to give a huge shoutout to Tetiana, who took on the challenge and did an absolutely fantastic job bringing the property back up to standard. 💜
These are the moments that don't always make it onto social media, but they're part of what goes on behind the scenes in the world of serviced accommodation.
So, hosts, a friendly reminder:
✅ Protect your properties
✅ Keep inventories updated
✅ Install CCTV where appropriate
✅ Don't assume everyone has good intentions
Because apparently, in 2026, even TVs need supervision. 😂
