While working at an electrical substation, pest technician Mitch from our South West WA team inadvertently stumbled upon this small dugite snake.

Before finishing his scheduled work, Mitch removed and relocated the snake to keep the area safe.

Snake activity is increasing as spring brings warmer days across Australia. If you encounter one on your property, keep your distance and contact a qualified snake catcher if it needs moving.

Seeing a cockroach after your treatment can make it feel like nothing has changed.

However, a few sightings shortly afterwards do not necessarily mean the treatment has failed.

Give the treatment time to work and follow the aftercare instructions provided by your pest management technician.

You can also help support the effectiveness of your treatment by taking these actions:

✅ Promptly clean up food crumbs and spills
✅ Store food and pet food in airtight containers
✅ Empty bins regularly and keep them sealed
✅ Repair any leaking taps and pipes around your property
✅ Remove any unnecessary cardboard and clutter from your home
✅ Seal off gaps around doors, windows and pipes
✅ Avoid household pest sprays in professionally treated areas

Cockroach activity should gradually decrease, but an established infestation may require follow-up treatments depending on its severity.

The little cockroaches in the kitchen usually aren't babies.

They're German cockroaches. What you're looking at is a fully grown adult.

German cockroaches live and breed inside, close to food and warmth. Behind the fridge, under the dishwasher, in the gap beside the kettle.

People think a block home is safe from termites.

The part you can see is block. But the roof frame sitting on top of it is timber, and that's where most of the timber in the house actually is.

Termites don't need a timber wall to get up there. They just need a path.

So a block home is worth checking for the same reason any Townsville home is. When was yours last looked at?

The moisture meter isn't looking for termites.

It reads how much water is in a wall. Which sounds like a different job entirely, until you know what termites are actually after.

They need damp. So a patch of wall that reads high, behind a shower or under a window or along the bottom of a laundry, is somewhere worth a closer look even when there's not much to see on the surface.

So the air con dripping onto the same patch of dirt for six months can be the reason one house gets termites and the one next door doesn't.

Worth a walk around your place just to see where the water it sitting.

There's more timber in your roof than in the rest of the house put together.

And it's the one part of the house nobody looks at.

You'll notice a cracked tile. You'll notice a door that sticks. You will not notice anything happening above the ceiling, because there's a sheet of plasterboard between you and it, and no reason to ever go up there.

So once a year, make sure someone goes up to inspect it for you🔦
