Ants in your kitchen or bathroom? You’re not alone — and your home isn’t uniquely vulnerable.

Ant pressure in North Texas isn’t tied to a specific date — it’s tied to conditions.

When soil temperatures warm and rain events hit, colonies that have been building underground shift into full foraging mode. And recent rain events don’t create ant problems — they displace existing colonies, which then relocate through gaps in slab foundations, expansion joints, and plumbing penetrations.

The species most responsible this time of year are odorous house ants and rover ants. They’re small, aggressive foragers, and they’re good at finding the path of least resistance into a home.

North Texas summers don't wait for the calendar — heat that stresses your lawn can arrive in May and run well into September. How you water from now through late September determines what your lawn looks like next spring.

That's not an exaggeration — especially for St. Augustine, which will fold its leaf blades vertically when it's drying out, and can die if the underwatering continues. Bermuda and Zoysia are more forgiving, but they'll still show you signs.
