Hi humans! Bella here! 🐶

Today I turn 6 years old! That’s 42 in dog years, which means I’m officially old enough to complain about the younger dogs, demand more naps, and have very strong opinions about absolutely everything. 😂

Speaking of opinions… DON’T FORGET TO VOTE! 🇺🇸🗳️

I may be a dog, but even I know that having a voice matters! Unfortunately, they won’t let me vote. Something about needing to be human and not being allowed to mark my ballot with muddy paw prints. 🐾

I’m not here to tell you WHO to vote for. I’m just here to remind you that your vote matters!

Republican, Democrat, Independent… I don’t care! As long as you give belly rubs, throw the ball, and don’t interrupt my naps, we can be friends. ❤️

And remember, no matter who wins, we can all agree on three things:

🎂 Birthdays deserve extra treats.

By now you've probably seen the news about New World screwworm showing up in Texas. Three calves confirmed positive in South Texas since June 3rd, and it's the first established livestock infestation in the U.S. since the original eradication campaign in the 1960s.

We've been getting questions about what this means for folks up here in Washington and Oregon, so we put together a full breakdown.

The short answer: Washington and Oregon have never had a confirmed screwworm case. Not before eradication, not after. The climate, the distance, and the biology all work in our favor.

🐻 We Had a Visitor This Afternoon!

So this happened right behind our Tumwater office today and we had to share it. A black bear paid us a visit out back, and honestly? Pretty cool wildlife moment. The good news is our honeybees were completely unbothered (smart bear), and the bear moved on without any drama.

If you're in the area, just a heads up to be mindful over the next little while:

🐾 Keep an eye on pets when letting them outside, especially in the early morning and evening hours

🌻 Bring in or secure any bird feeders, as they're a major attractant for bears

🗑️ Make sure trash cans are secure before putting them out

Bears are naturally curious and generally just passing through looking for an easy meal. As long as we don't give them one, they'll keep moving. We alerted neighbors in the area and wanted to make sure our community had the heads up too.

Because that's what neighbors do. 🐝
