What is Oxidation?! 🤔

Oxidation on siding is the chalky, faded breakdown of the material's surface caused by prolonged exposure to sun, UV rays, heat, and weather over time. It's most common on vinyl and painted surfaces, and the finish literally degrades and turns powdery.

Rest assured — house washing doesn't cause oxidation. It just uncovers what years of weather exposure have already done.

Years of sun, heat, UV rays, and weather can leave vinyl siding chalky and faded. Dirt, pollen, and organic growth often hide it — until the home gets cleaned. Once we wash, that oxidation can become more noticeable, sometimes showing up as streaks or "tiger stripes."

That's not a mistake — it's just what was already there, finally visible. Proper chemical ratios, dwell time, technique, and thorough rinsing are all key to minimizing how it shows up.
