So many homeowners don’t realize things are broken, cracked, or falling apart inside their chimney because it’s not something you can easily see. But that hidden damage is exactly what leads to house fires, smoke problems, and major repairs that could’ve been prevented.

During inspections, we find:
• Cracked flue tiles
• Missing mortar
• Rusted or damaged caps
• Broken dampers
• Blocked or collapsing liners
• Heavy creosote hiding behind the smoke shelf

All of these issues make a chimney unsafe, even if it “looks fine” from the outside. That’s why a yearly inspection is critical. It’s not just routine—it’s protection for your home and your family.

I’m posting pictures of a few chimneys and fireplaces we recently worked on. These were dangerous before we found the issues. Please make sure yours is safe before you light that first fire of the season.

Old insert not properly lined. Firebox completely rusted out and damaged flue tiles. Replaced insert and relined with stainless steel pipe. Sealed top.
