One of today’s jobs was a carpet moth treatment at a city centre hotel…

What actually causes the damage
• Larvae, not adult moths, eat natural fibres.
• They feed on keratin found in wool, silk, cashmere, fur, feathers, and hair.
• Synthetic fibres (nylon, polyester) are usually safe unless blended with wool.

Rats had been reported inside the cavity walls of a utility room at this property .
After removing some of the decking outside at the side of the house the entry point was eventually found.
A drain survey will now be carried out to find out where the exact location of the defect is then repaired as required.

Why do moles create tunnels and hills?
Moles create tunnels for two purposes, traveling and feeding. Traveling tunnels are pathways between feeding areas and the den. Feeding areas are usually marked by clusters of hills and shallow tunnels. Their purpose is allow the mole to hunt for its main diet, worms. The mounds or "mole hills" are excess dirt that has been mined away by the mole to create these tunnels.
