Grey Squirrels may seem cute as they hop across a road or run up and down your fence. However...
..Did you know that Grey Squirrels do not need a drain pipe or tree to access your property?

They can simply climb up a wall!

Grey squirrels are not so cute when they get in your loft. They can strip lengths of wiring with their huge incisor teeth!

Why they like to do this is a mystery, but they are prolific wire st*****rs resulting in your home becoming an unintentional fire hazard. 🔥

At this time of the year keep a close ear out for any scurrying or scratching in the loft – my wife said when we had a squirrel problem that it sounded like a stiletto heel!

And act fast if you hear anything before these little cuties become major arsonists in your home.

Reports suggest the number of enquiries about getting rid of rats and mice soared over the winter – possibly linked to climate change.

Colder winters usually mean fewer rodents, because they don’t survive the lower temperatures, but milder weather is allowing more rodents to live, and long hot summers are creating perfect conditions for young mice and rats to leave the nest and breed rapidly.

Signs of a rodent problem include:
🐀 An unusual, ammonia-like smell
🐀 Small dark droppings,
🐀 Greasy marks on walls or skirting boards
🐀 Gnaw marks and
🐀 Hearing scratching noises, especially at night.

Their nocturnal nature means they can remain hidden for a long time before you begin to suspect they’ve invaded your home.

But rodents can potentially spread germs, and damage your property through gnawing, so if you suspect you have unwanted furry house guests, it’s a good idea to get rid of them quickly.

Mouse droppings were found throughout the premises of a disgusting Merseyside takeaway.

Inspectors awarded a one star hygiene rating after finding mouse droppings in the food preparation and washing up area, on shelves, on the floor near the fridge, in the fridge’s ‘motor area’ and in many other parts of the premises. 🐭

After the inspection, the takeaway closed for a couple of days to conduct a deep clean before reopening as normal.

The report said “dirty conditions” and “spillages of food” gave mice an alternative source of food to bait laid down by the takeaway’s pest contractors.

A “build-up of dirt, grease and debris” was found in all areas of the premises.

For example, chopping boards, used in connection with ready to eat foods, were found stored in a rack which was on a dirty, greasy shelf with mouse droppings evident.

In one of the takeaway’s kitchen cupboards “nesting material” was found in addition to mouse droppings.

As well as dirty surfaces, some fixtures and fittings needed pest proofing. There were gaps in the pipework which were large enough for rodents to get in.
