Carpet Beetle 🪲 treatment carried out this morning at a property in York!

🟢The customer had reported frequently finding adult carpet beetle as well the larvae (wooly bear) in several rooms within the property.

🟢A thorough inspection of the property was carried out to confirm the activity was carpet beetle and also to locate the source of the carpet beetle activity (other than the carpets).

🟢A large, old decomposing wasp nest was located in the eaves of the loft space which I suspect might have been the source of the activity, the old wasp nest has now been removed.

🟢A full residual insecticidal spray treatment was applied to all carpeted areas, wall/floor junctions and cracks/crevices.

🟢Insecticidal dust applied underneath the edges of the carpets to provide a lasting barrier against any carpet beetle emerging from under the carpet.

🟢An insecticidal fogging treatment of the loft space has been conducted to eliminate any carpet beetle present within the loft.

🟢Insect monitoring points placed to monitor activity between now and the next treatment.

🟢A second treatment has been booked in to be carried out in 14 days time.

Wasp nest 🐝 removal carried out at a property in York this morning!

Guaranteed Wasp nest treatments 🐝 don’t get stung this summer!

We are coming to that time of year when the weather is warming up and wasp activity is on the increase.

What are the signs of a wasp nest?

🟢A steady stream of wasps flying in/out of a specific spot, for example in garden sheds, air bricks, vents, gaps in between brickwork, soffits, underneath roof tiles and holes in the ground etc.

🟢Persistent buzzing or crackling noises from within walls or in loft spaces is an indication of an active wasp nest.

🟢Increased indoor sightings- repeatedly finding multiple wasps inside your home, especially near to light fixtures or vents would indicate that there may be an active nest present in the loft or wall cavity.

🟢Flight lines- watching wasps in the late morning or early afternoon to see where they are flying to and from can reveal the location of an active wasp nest.

🟢Wasp nests- Visible nest structures are generally light brown or grey in colour with swirly marble like patterns, though they can vary in colour depending on the type of wood the wasps have constructed their nest from. Wasp nests start around the size of a golf ball and these are known as starter nests. Wasp nests expand in size throughout the season up to around the size of a football, and in some cases can become much larger than this! On exposed wasp nests, an active nest will generally have a number of live wasps walking around the outside of the nest, and it may also be possible to see wasps entering and leaving the nest!

What to do if you find an active wasp nest?

First part of a Bed bug treatment carried out today at a domestic property!

🟢A thorough inspection of the property was carried out to identify the areas where bed bug activity has been taking place.

🟢All furniture and beds were moved around to allow access to treat underneath and to allow access to all hidden cracks/crevices where bed bugs or their eggs might be present.

🟢All areas affected with bed bug activity were steam treated at high temperature to ensure any eggs, nymphs and adults were eliminated.

🟢After steam treatment, a full residual insecticidal spray treatment of the property was also carried out to help control the bed bug issue.

🟢Bed bug monitoring points have been placed to monitor activity between now and the second treatment that is due to be carried out in 14 days time.

Black garden ant 🐜 gel treatment.

It didn’t take long for these ants to start feeding from the bait station! If you look closely you can see the point of ingress, the nest is somewhere underneath the concrete floor.

Back to check the mole traps I set on a garden job this afternoon and the problem mole had been caught!

🟢 Whilst checking the traps I inspected the area for any signs of fresh mole activity and no further signs were found since the mole was caught. There had also been nothing else caught in the other traps I set, so looks like it was just the one causing the damage!
