Why Spring Is the Best Time for a Chimney Sweep?

Soot and creosote deposits are acidic. If left sitting in your chimney over the summer, they can corrode steel liners and gradually damage brickwork.

Have you noticed twigs falling down your chimney?

If yes, then it’s possible you have birds starting to build a nest. Bad news im afraid as this can lead to a blockage in the chimney and a massive fire risk.
If you suspect a nest then please get it checked and removed by a professional sweep.

We can do this and fit a cowl (depending on access)to prevent further issues .
Nests cannot be legally removed between 1st April and 31st August due to the countryside act 1981 , any sweep/person doing so could end up in prison.

Dont chance it, if in doubt, get the sweep out!

If you haven’t had the chimney swept yet then give me a shout and we can get you booked in. With snow and ice lurking a cosy fire is the way to go, but please don’t light it until you’ve had the all clear from a professional, qualified sweep.
