Flea season!

Following the recent nice weather we have hit a peak in flea breeding season, leading to an abundance of fleas being born at this time. The increased levels of fleas could lead to your pets and consequently your home becoming infested.

To avoid this, you can keep your pets up-to-date with flea preventative treatments or deter your pets from travelling through long grass where they can pick up fleas.

If you do find you have gained an infestation it is best to get it treated as early as possible before the colony grows. To do this requires a 3 step treatment:
1. Treating your pets - using ‘Spot-on’ or other flea treatments .
2. Treating your clothes - by washing them at high temperatures to kill an pests or eggs.
3. Treating your home - we can come in and perform a two part treatment consisting of a water based spray on all carpets and fabrics, followed by a fumigator which produces a fog substance to treat all the nooks and crannies of your home including under the floorboards (a popular place for fleas to lay eggs).

COVID-19 update - July 2021.

As we come out of lockdown, we understand that people are still nervous about the spread of coronavirus. As a company, we are taking steps to eliminate the fear when coming to treat your pests.

As most of our work is outside during summer, which will significantly reduce the risk of infection.

We do not insist on wearing of face masks for any of our clients, however it is preferred. Our technicians will still be wearing face masks whenever they enter your home.

We will continue to keep 2 metres space wherever possible.

In regards to payments, contactless is preferred however we do still accept cash.

Flying Ant Day!

Warm and less windy weather is often the indicator of the beginning of flying ant breeding season.

This means many ant colonies will be flying high to compete to mate with their princess. So you may see many of them flying around or falling to the ground.

The live ones should only be passing through your home. However, you may find many dead ants on your ground for ones that have not quite made it.
This does not require treatment as the males that survive the fall to the ground do not have any feeding oropheses so should die off within a few days.

Another winter job, last week we were called to Finedon, where the new owners of a property had found rats living in the attic. Three good visits in-which we found the entry point, blocked it then removed all the heavily soiled insulation, completely sanitised the entire attic & replaced the insulation to the latest specification. A messy job carried out by team member Karen & Steve.
