Every day, our team at Birmingham Airport supports one of the UK's busiest travel hubs, managing the waste produced across the site, from terminals and retailers to airside operations.

Over the past 12 months, they've processed more than 2,000 tonnes of waste, roughly the weight of five fully loaded jumbo jets, consistently diverting over 80% of it from landfill through recycling and reuse. Behind those numbers is a smart operation. In our Mobile Segregation Unit, every load is expertly sorted into the right streams to maximise what can be recovered, and each one is tracked back to its source, giving the airport clear visibility of who is generating what and driving better segregation across the site.

It's a strong partnership, built on good data, close collaboration, and a shared commitment to reducing the airport's environmental impact.

With 165 colleagues recognised across the first three quarters of FY26, our Heroes programme continues to shine a light on the incredible talent, passion, and commitment that exists throughout our organisation.

As we head into the final stretch of the financial year, we encourage everyone to keep recognising the colleagues who inspire you. Celebrating great work strengthens our culture, motivates those around us, and ensures no exceptional contribution goes unnoticed.

The FM sector's expectations for AI are ambitious. Our FM Technology Outlook 2026 found that 95% of FM leaders expect AI to deliver productivity gains of at least 10% by 2030, with more than half anticipating 20% or more. Yet fewer than two in five organisations had deployed AI-powered tools, with a further 45% in the consideration or pilot phase.

The findings point to a sector where confidence is running well ahead of adoption, and where leaders managing the largest estates are the most optimistic about what AI can deliver. As our Head of Data & Emerging Technology, Phil Darcy, puts it: "What we're seeing across the sector is that organisations with the right data foundations are already pulling ahead. The gap between those who've invested in sensors, IoT and integration capability and those who haven't is only going to widen as AI matures."

The Royal Botanic Gardens in London is one of the most important heritage sites in the world, and looking after it comes with a responsibility that runs through everything our team does on site, including the way it's cleaned and maintained day to day.

This is the busiest stretch of the year. The gardens are in full bloom, visitor numbers are at their highest, and the pressure on keeping the site clean and presentable goes up with them. It's exactly when the way the team works has to hold up.

Because of where they're working, what the team use and how they move around the estate matters. They clean with chemical-free, biodegradable products and low-power battery equipment, separate waste at source into general, recyclable and organic streams, and move around the estate on electric Vok Bikes. The bikes cut emissions and let the teams reach the paths and quieter corners a fuel-powered vehicle often can't, without the disruption to a space full of visitors.

"At a site like this, what you use and how you work has to fit the place. The bikes are part of that, alongside the products we choose and the way we handle waste. It's about keeping our impact in step with the environment we're working in." — Joao Magioly, Site Manager

There were loud cheers in the room as the winner of the Operational Excellence in Facilities Management Award 2026 was announced at last weeks OpEx Awards, and we are delighted it was us.

This award celebrates organisations using innovation, continuous improvement and sustainability to create measurable impact. Over the past twelve months, our teams have done exactly that.

From energy optimisation and improved transport operations to enhanced healthcare processes and sustainable campus management, our work over the past year shows how FM excellence creates real operational and environmental value. It is an approach that combines thoughtful process improvement, the right technology in the right places and a steady focus on outcomes that matter to our clients.

This win belongs to our people, whose expertise carries the standard every day, and to the clients who trust us to raise it alongside them.

A huge well done to everyone involved!

Last week, our Senior Leadership Team came together to build momentum for the future, while making a meaningful difference in the communities we serve.

In partnership with Simon Community and supported by our community partners at CPL, our leaders packed over 150 dignity kits, wrote handwritten messages of encouragement, and helped connect individuals into employment pathways through our recruitment teams.

The packs will go directly to people staying in Simon Community's temporary accommodation services across Northern Ireland. As Harriett Roberts, Growth and Partnerships Lead at Simon Community, put it:

"At a time when so many people are facing real uncertainty, support like this from Bidvest Noonan really makes a difference. Offering not just essentials, but a sense of dignity and care to 150 people. We're really grateful to everyone involved."

As Laura Addison, Social Value and Purpose Manager at Bidvest Noonan, said:

"Our ambition is clear: to put our purpose into action every single day. Collaborations like this show that purpose isn't just something we talk about, it's something we do, as we proudly build healthier, safer communities for today and tomorrow."

We're incredibly proud to see Kane recognised with the Outstanding Security Manager/Director award at the OSPAs. It's a brilliant achievement and a real reflection of the leadership, dedication and impact she brings every single day.

Recognition like this shines a light on what becomes possible when women are given the space to lead, to influence, and to help shape the future of an industry. Rebecca is doing exactly that. Leaders like Rebecca show the next generation of women in security that ambitious careers are theirs to build.

Congratulations, Rebecca. We're proud to have you representing excellence in our industry, and we look forward to everything you'll continue to achieve.

Last night was a great night for Bidvest Noonan. We were honoured to take home two awards at the OPEX Operational Excellence Awards 2026, winning both Innovation in Operations and Operational Excellence in Facilities Management. The OPEX Awards recognise organisations that deliver meaningful operational change through innovation, technology, efficiency, and service excellence.

Winning the Innovation in Operations award highlights the impact of Task, our digital operations platform, which is transforming service delivery by bringing audits, compliance, maintenance, safety reporting and day-to-day workflows into one real-time system. From supporting faster patient discharge in healthcare to enabling real-time verification of fleet cleaning, Task is driving smarter, more connected operations.

We were also delighted to receive the award for Operational Excellence in Facilities Management, recognising the scale and quality of work delivered by our teams across sectors, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, sustainability and client experience.

Most importantly, these awards belong to our people. Thank you to every colleague, client and partner who played a part in this achievement. It is your expertise, commitment, and drive for continuous improvement that make success like this possible.

Warm weather across the UK and Ireland right now feels welcome, but it changes how buildings behave.

Cooling systems work harder. HVAC runs longer. Water demand rises and temperatures climb across systems most people never see.

This is when our technical services teams step up. Across the sites we support, they are monitoring HVAC and cooling performance, checking water systems for temperature and stagnation risk, running planned maintenance on steam boilers and closed systems, and acting on small changes before they turn into bigger problems.

Supported by digital operations platforms, teams like ours keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes, so the people using these buildings can get on with their day and enjoy the warm spell.
