Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to update you on our approach in supporting our service users and staff in response to COVID-19. Our primary objectives during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic will be to keep people safe during a period of unprecedented pressure on the Health and Social Care system. We are taking the outbreak seriously and are maintaining a calm and practicable approach to this issue.

As a result, we have implemented the following:

• Kazlum Support have adopted a thorough hand washing policy. Any individual that enters the property be it service users, staff, health professionals or visitors are to wash their hands immediately on entering. Should you visit any of our properties, you are required to adopt this policy please.

• All support staff have been supplied with additional PPE. All our support staff have been provided with Infection Control & COVID-19 Awareness Training. We also have extra stock on order should we require this.

• Our team has received General Health & Safety & Personal Hygiene Guidance including good hand washing routines and cleaning regimes. We are also ensuring our staff are prepared to continue providing service should we need to comply with self-isolation recommendations.

• Social activities/gatherings have been cancelled until further notice. Service users will be supported to go out for walks however they will not be supported to any events or gatherings where there are crowds of people. I have been in contact with the appropriate groups to inform them of our decision to cancel all activities. Support staff will be completing food shopping and medication collection etc on behalf of all service users. All staff will remain proactive within the homes regarding activities and measures have been put in place should we go into lockdown.

• Physical contact has been limited, where we would offer a hand shake at the request of service users and visitors this has been stopped and no physical contact is permitted in the workplace unless necessary (I.e. personal care).

• We have limited visits to the property, only allowing essential family members to visit. Home visits are still going ahead, however we ask that all parents/carers to adopt our hand washing/hygiene policy and ensure that our service users are not supported into large crowds of people/ busy environments.

• We are working with and following the guidance issued by Public Health England and NHS England

Kazlum are currently developing a contingency plan in the event that we go into lockdown. Should you require a copy of this, please let me know and I can forward this to you on completion. We appreciate that this is a fast-moving evolving situation and we will keep you up to date with any further guidance.

We ask for your support in ensuring that you adopt our policies and follow all guidelines published by Public Health England for the safety of our service users and staff members.
Should you have any queries or concerns then please do not hesitate to contact me either by return email or via telephone on 07507690227

Kind Regards
Lisa Mitchell
