🟨⬛️ Wasps nesting season has started 🟨⬛️

Temperatures have increased & wasps are coming out of hibernation. Queens are waking up & looking for a location to start a nest. Some have already started but aren’t always obvious unless visible.

Here is a short clip of a wasp we clocked starting a nest. Nests are made from chewed wood pulp & mixed with their saliva.
The queen will do all the work for the first 3-4 broods of eggs & then will stay in the nest permanently managing the nest & workers 🐝

Rooftop mystery solved! A customer heard strange noises in their flat roof, but we got to the bottom of it. 🕵️‍♂️

Turns out rats had chewed a hole and were using the gutter as a highway. We set up a little welcome package with bait on string and placed it in the hole to get rid of them and retrieved once the job was done. 🐀🏠

Unusual issue, easy solution ⁉️🤔🌿

A customer had called us reporting a room full of hundreds of insects but didn’t know what they were. Upon looking closely, we identified the insects at Black Aphids which seemed unusual due to there being no plants in the room.

We noticed that they were congregated towards the book shelf & looked above to notice them on the ceiling too.
Looking at the area from the outside, there was ivy climbing the building & entering which was smothered in aphids!

This being the source, we recommend that the customer had the plant reduced down & sprayed the plant with soapy water, which kills aphids.
Should this not solve the issue, we recommend the plant is removed all together.

Pigeon netting installation above 3 wash bays for 🐦🚫

The last thing you want after washing your car is for a bird to have an accident on it 💩🚗
We carried out work of a Sunday during closed hours so we didn’t interfere with such a busy site.

Is this the first wasps nest of the year? 🐝😮

Wasps are emerging from their winter diapause & looking for areas to start a new nest.
Most enquiries we get at this time of year are due to wasps looking for somewhere to start & stray down into the property.
This is not normally something to worry about & you can just let them out.

What a transformation! 🚂🏚️ Our team of 5 technicians took on the task of pigeon guano clearance at this long-abandoned train station.
