Who are Bi-TAS, what do we do?
We are Bi-TAS, Birmingham Testing and Scanning Ltd.
We are a boutique structural investigation company.
What does that mean? We are the Sherlock Holmes of the construction industry. We deal in providing accurate information on existing structures using our expertise, know- how and experience by incorporating technology and state of the art practices.
Our clients, who range from consultant engineers, government, property management companies and everyone in between get in touch with us to find out what they need from their structure to keep it healthy or to move their project along when it stalls.
We work on everything from rooftops at the top of sky scrapers, to nuclear power stations, highway bridges, industrial buildings, university buildings, and everything in between. You name it, we have likely worked on it.
Every day and every project is different, but our customers rely on our consistency of producing high level information and reporting.
We have naturally reached the point after safely growing the business where we need to expand and we have a 5 year expansion plan which you would be a key part of.
What is really great about our business is that it feels like one big family inside the company and we are keen to keep that mentality and feeling – it is our mindset that happy, well rewarded staff produce the best work and are less likely to go off looking for other opportunities down the line. Consistency of contact is key for us and our clients – nobody has left us after joining yet, and we are hoping to keep it that way as best we can!
We have a small office based in Rubery, Birmingham as well as a couple of yards/depots that the site operatives work from in the South Birmingham and Worcestershire areas. From there we cover projects nationally.
Who are we looking for?
Successful candidates will be something of a problem solver, someone for whom puzzles make them tick. This role will involve taking snap shots of information and then using your knowledge (and the knowledge of those around you) to take those snap shots and put them together into a bigger picture to understand how a building is working, how it was constructed, the issues that might arise from that process.
They would be a self-starter, someone capable of managing their own time and working remotely (the pandemic has changed how we work as a nation...) on a laptop in their own home, but also happy to meet up or work in the office – the choice would be yours, but you may not always be surrounded by people during your day to day as we are so busy (but would be supported, in this day and age technology is key!).
You would enjoy a mixture of challenges day to day (no two projects are the same) but also would thrive on following processes to produce the standard and level of reporting our customers expect. Attention to detail is equally key.
You would definitely need to be a good communicator – you will be liaising with your own site team gathering the information you need to put your report together for the client, so giving clear instructions and communicating during a project as site conditions change is something very key.
You need to be located in Birmingham area.
