Sometimes all it takes is the right training, the right opportunity and one meaningful conversation.

After completing Tourism Saskatchewan's Workplace Essentials and Front Desk Agent training through the Work Readiness program, Nicholas Anderson attended a Belong hiring event in Regina. There, he connected with an employer, showcased the skills he had developed and ultimately secured a position as a full-time Guest Services Agent.

Nicholas' journey demonstrates how industry training, inclusive hiring initiatives and strong employer partnerships can create meaningful career opportunities in Saskatchewan's tourism sector.

Tourism Saskatchewan recently welcomed facilitators from across Saskatchewan for its annual Facilitator Professional Development Day, focused on learning, collaboration and continuous professional growth.

Each year, this event provides an opportunity to strengthen facilitation skills, share best practices and learn from one another, helping ensure we continue to deliver relevant training to tourism operators across Saskatchewan.

A highlight of the day was an inspiring session led by Indigenous Heritage Educator Honey Constant-Inglis, who shared valuable perspectives on Indigenous heritage education and ways of knowing. Their presentation encouraged meaningful reflection and offered practical insights for creating more inclusive and respectful learning environments.

Creating pathways to employment starts with meaningful connections.

On June 18, Tourism Saskatchewan partnered with Tourism HR Canada to host an Inclusive Hiring Event in Regina, bringing together employers and job seekers for valuable conversations about careers in Saskatchewan's tourism and hospitality industry.

The event featured employer presentations, one-on-one networking opportunities and personalized discussions that allowed participants to explore career options, ask questions and connect directly with hiring organizations. We were pleased to have Tracy Breher, Vice-President of Tourism Saskatchewan, deliver opening remarks and welcome attendees to this important initiative.

On June 11, emerging tourism professionals met with industry employers in Prince Albert for a networking event focused on career development and workforce growth as part of the Tourism Work Ready Connection Event.

Participants completing their Emerit credentials had the opportunity to tour the hotel, connect one-on-one with employers and learn more about career opportunities in Saskatchewan's tourism sector.
