Just sharing something awesome our team mate Mitch is doing on the weekend.
One of Mitch’s mates, Marcio and his lovely wife Sarah had a devastating year last year.
Rui Augusto was born on July 13, 2025, and was instantly loved by his parents Sarah and Marcio, but most of all by his big sister Ada.
On August 7, at just 25 days old, Rui tragically passed away due to a severe intracranial haemorrhage caused by a rare condition called neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (NAIT).
Determined to make a difference and help ensure no other family has to feel the same heartbreak, Rui's father Marcio and his close friends including our mate MITCH! are putting their feet to the pavement in the name of medical research.
This weekend Mitch will be joining the gang to walk/run a total distance that represent Rui's dates of birth and death and the 25 days he lived.
ui’s father Marcio along with some close friends will be running a total of 110km (a summation of distances that represent Rui's dates of birth and death and the 25 days he lived) across two days to raise funds for NAIT research.
Mitching as you know has been on a weight loss & fitness journey & it hoping to contribute to this!

What your support is helping to achieve:
NAIT occurs when a mother's immune system unknowingly attacks her unborn baby's platelets.
It can cause severe bleeding in the baby's brain before or after birth, and it is often undiagnosed until tragedy strikes.
NAIT is preventable and treatable when detected early.
In Australia, the only active research effort into NAIT is the Monash University NAIT Registry, a small unfunded project run purely on the passion of dedicated doctors and researchers, created in 2009 to improve care for mothers and babies affected by NAIT. The Registry collects vital data from families affected by NAIT across the country to understand how often it happens, how treatments work, and how we can prevent it altogether.
The Registry helps doctors across Australia:
• understand how often NAIT occurs
• track outcomes for babies and families
• share what treatments work best
• improve clinical care nationwide.
