🪳 Think your kitchen is cockroach-proof? Think again!

If there's one place cockroaches love, it's your kitchen... and the bathroom comes in a close second. Warmth, moisture, food crumbs and tiny hiding spots make these areas the perfect home for unwanted guests.

Here are a few simple ways to keep them out:

✅ Wipe down benches, stovetop and sink every night – even a few crumbs or a little grease is a feast for a cockroach.

✅ Store pantry items and pet food in sealed containers.

✅ Empty your rubbish bin regularly and always keep the lid closed.

✅ Clean behind the fridge, oven and dishwasher where grease and warmth build up.

✅ Don't leave dirty dishes or standing water in the sink overnight.

In the bathroom and laundry:

💧 Fix leaking taps and pipes – cockroaches need water to survive.

🧼 Keep wet areas dry and avoid leaving damp towels on the floor.

💨 Run your exhaust fan to reduce humidity.

🔧 Seal any gaps around pipes under sinks and behind toilets.

💡 PestOz Pro Tip: German cockroaches love squeezing into the tiny gaps behind kitchen appliances. Running a bead of silicone sealant along those joins is an inexpensive DIY job that removes one of their favourite hiding places.

If you're already seeing cockroaches during the day, it's usually a sign there's a much larger population hiding out of sight. That's when it's time to call in the professionals.

❄️ Think pests disappear in winter? Think again.

As temperatures drop across Sydney, many pests start looking for somewhere warm, dry, and safe to shelter — and unfortunately, that often means our homes and workplaces.

🐭 Rats and mice move indoors searching for warmth and food.
🪳 Cockroaches seek out warm kitchens and moisture sources.
🕷️ Spiders find shelter in garages, sheds, and roof spaces.
🐜 Ants continue hunting for indoors when outdoor food sources become scarce.

A few simple steps can help reduce the risk:

✅ Seal gaps around doors, windows, and utility pipes
✅ Store food in sealed containers
✅ Fix leaking taps and pipes
✅ Keep gardens trimmed away from buildings
✅ Reduce clutter in storage areas and garages

Winter is often when small pest problems start — before becoming much bigger issues in spring.

Don't wait for a small pest problem to turn into a big pest problem!

You might’ve noticed a few more cockroaches popping up around Sydney lately… and no, it’s not just you 👀

With the warmer weather hanging around, plus all the recent rain and humidity, conditions are perfect for cockroaches. As the temperature starts to shift, they head indoors looking for food, water, and somewhere cosy to hide (unfortunately, that often means your kitchen or bathroom).

So why are they so active right now?

It really comes down to a few simple things: warm, humid air helps them breed faster, rain can push them out of drains and damp areas, and homes offer easy access to food and shelter—especially in older buildings with small gaps and cracks.

The good news? There are a few easy things you can do to keep them at bay:

✔️ Keep your kitchen clean – wipe up crumbs and spills as you go
✔️ Get on top of moisture – fix any leaks and keep sinks/dishes dry overnight
✔️ Seal up entry points – check for gaps around pipes, walls, and doors
✔️ Declutter where you can – cardboard and paper are perfect hiding spots

If things are starting to get out of hand, that’s where we come in. Feel free to reach out – we’re always happy to help 👍
