Spring is here, and so are the ants. Our founder Julian Bracewell spoke to Yahoo Lifestyle Australia about why DIY ant fixes, like boiling water and detergent poured down the nest, are usually just a “band-aid”.

“You might move them away from that area, but what you’re really taking out is just the workers,” says Julian. “To control an ant’s population, you’ve got to get to the queen, who is generally underground and the boss.”

Julian’s tips for keeping small black ants away this spring:
✅ Remove their food source. They’re incredible foragers, so even a few crumbs or grains of sugar will bring them in
✅ Wipe down benches and keep the pantry sealed
✅ Stand the pet’s food bowl inside a bigger bowl of water to make a moat
✅ Use bait instead of a repellent. Ants carry bait back to the nest, so it reaches the queen

Cracking day at yesterday - we love combining our love of football and pest control to create a really fun sponsorship! It’s official - THE COLOUR RUN is now our Racing Roaches’ favourite (and messiest) course of the season! 🌈

We had the pleasure of sponsoring McAuley Primary Rose Bay biggest fundraiser of the year last Friday, and what a joy-filled, colourful and beautiful day it was. We love being a part of the communities that choose to support our business, and giving back is a huge part of what we do. And if that involves volunteering to dress up as a cockroach to walk the children from school to the event, and then throw colourful powder over them all - then sign us up! Well done McAuley and all the amazing volunteers for running such a fabulous event. The kids were in their element!

And that concludes another busy Racing Roach winter… lots of FUNdraising and silliness across 7 community events in 2026. Time to hang up the roach suits and rest! 😅

Our Racing Roaches have officially conquered their first-ever Voltaren City2Surf !!🪳🏃‍♂️

I think it’s safe to say this was their biggest challenge yet...
4 Pest2Kill legends volunteered to take on the 14km course in full Racing Roach glory, hills, costumes and all, and despite the slightly (very) hot suits, they all made it across the finish line. 👏

We’re incredibly lucky to have a team that not only works hard but is always willing to get involved in our slightly crazy antics. 😂 And we can confirm that the beers at the finish line tasted even better than usual. 🍻

Next up, we’ll be back in our soccer boots for the penalty spot at the The Hospitality Cup on 7 September ⚽🪳 We’ve got a couple more fun things planned before we officially wrap up the season, and let them rest before we start planning next years racing roaches😜
