What a journey! It's been a rough few weeks with one washer and then another blowing out the main tub bearings because of sand. We repaired one and then found that the lower bearing had failed as well. Today, I did a full tub removal and replaced the failed bearing. 3 hours later, we have a working washing machine!

The parts for the second washing machine should arrive early next week and once I've done a full rebuild, we should be up and sorted with that machine too. Please, no more sand!!!!!

We've had a few questions about the Dryer that's been offline - yep, it's been a rough few weeks. With any luck we'll have the motor back from repair early next week and the remaining parts arrived today.

Won't it be amazing to have everything working again!

Man down! Maybe more accurately Washer Down!

Washer 2 has being through the wringer, so to say, with sand taking out the main seal and bearing in the tub.

Sand? Yes, sand! We've begged people not to put sandy clothes in the washer, but here we are. This repair will be a pretty big job and the teardown and rebuild will take around 3 weeks once the parts turn up.

In the meantime, please use the other four washers!

(BTW, we have our "sand" routine down pat now. Full tub vacuum, tub wash and pump clean/clear - it only takes about 45 minutes. "Thanks" to the "sand" people.)

One thing that's consistent with owning a laundromat is the upkeep!

A lot of our time is spent removing foreign objects from coin acceptors, rescuing crumpled notes from note acceptors (yeh, scrunch that $5 note up - what could possibly go wrong???), sanitizing washing machines and wiping up excess laundry powder which didn't make it into the washer (one scoop is enough!!!!).

Herbert the dryer didn't quite make it to it's next scheduled maintenance, with the coin mech being replaced, keypad fixed and exhaust fan needing a good clean and tune.

The test run was HOT.
