Western Sydney Family Day Care, a service of Catholic Care Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains, has been supporting children and families since 1979. Formerly called Baulkham Hills Family Day Care, we refreshed our brand in 2026 to reflect our growing service and our commitment to offering

an alternative to traditional care across Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains. We provide accredited home-based small group care, for children aged 0 - 12 years. This includes childcare from birth to 6 years; Before and After School Care and Vacation Care. We take pride in personalised, small-group care, where educators often see families grow through generations and become an extension of the family. Our warm, caring community gives children of all ages – from babies to 12 years – the chance to gain confidence, develop skills, build friendships, and thrive. We welcome respectful discussion and engagement on this page. The children from Explore & Grow Family Daycare have been developing their counting and early mathematics skills through a fun, hands on learning experience.

Using domino pieces they created together, along with number matching sheets, the children practised recognising quantities, counting, and matching their domino patterns to the corresponding numbers.

It is wonderful to see the children building confidence with numbers while developing problem solving skills, concentration, and mathematical thinking through play.

The children from The Little Shepherds Family Daycare Schofields stepped into the world of big school experiences as they joined the Little Joeys Transition Program at their local School.

The children embraced every opportunity to explore, create, and discover. From making binocular crafts and engaging with the sensory table, to browsing books in the library, creating drawings, and joining in a fun search and find storytime, their curiosity and excitement were shining throughout the day! 📚

It is fantastic to see the children confidently exploring a new environment, building connections with local educators, and developing a sense of belonging within their wider community.

The adventure continued with a visit to the local park, where the children enjoyed running, swinging, digging in the sand, and sharing plenty of smiles and laughter with their friends. 🌳

Experiences like these provide children with meaningful opportunities to build confidence, strengthen community connections, and develop the skills they need as they take their next steps towards school.

🚦 Learning about road safety through play! 🚸

Inspired by our recent Kids in Traffic training, Shabana from Shabana’s Family Day Care used her new resources to create a meaningful learning experience for the children.

Shabana talked with the children about the importance of holding hands when walking near roads and when crossing the street. The children then extended their learning through a fun holding hands sign puzzle activity, reinforcing this important safety message in an engaging and hands on way.

It is wonderful to see our WSFDC educators transform their training into practical learning opportunities that supports children’s safety awareness, confidence, and understanding of the world around them. 🚸

Last Friday, our Little Explorers enjoyed another beautiful visit with our friends at SummitCare Nursing Home. The morning was filled with smiles, laughter, music, and meaningful conversations as the children and residents spent time together building on the wonderful friendships they have created.

A highlight of the visit was music time, where the children sang songs, played instruments, and encouraged residents to join in the fun. 🎶

These ongoing visits create valuable opportunities for children to connect with their wider community, develop relationships across generations, and understand the importance of kindness, respect, and belonging.
