A bit of a different Saturday morning for me.
Usually I don't splurge on coffee or brunch, but today was different.
This week posted a shout-out to the community highlighting the challenges of staying open and keeping staff on, in the current economic climate.
And that touched a chord with me because I know the feeling. Trying to make impossible numbers work while smiling and providing great service.
Getting constructive feedback to help you improve when you're trying to survive.
Waking up dreading the pressure, the supplier conversations, the feeling of drifting towards danger.
It doesn't have to be like that. And we get to be the difference.
Because where we choose to spend our money decides who gets to stay, to keep making a difference in our community.
Port Adelaide needs businesses like The Banksia Tree to thrive because they bring the elements that build community.
- meeting places
- community spirit
- choosing local suppliers
- real sustainable business practices
Every time you visit, you're contributing to a stronger community and a better planet.
And that's why I visited today.
Apart from the amazing food, friendly staff and great atmosphere, we need places like this to continue.
We need to show that doing hard things the right way can and does work.
Fabian and his team are always stepping up for good causes and supporting great initiatives like the Semaphore Compost Network.
Now it's our turn to pay them back.
This week, vote with your feet and your wallet.
Choose local.
Visit The Banksia Tree.
Let's keep this good thing going.
