50k on Instagram For a heritage fashion house from a country called Zimbabwe🇿🇼, carrying big heritage, big culture and very big stories into the world. More than a decade ago, when we began pushing cowhide and cowhorns into contemporary fashion, it looked bizarre to many people. Cowhide belonged somewhere else. It was too rigid, too traditional, too unconventional to become fashion in the way we imagined it.
We imagined it anyway.We cut it, sculpted it, draped it, softened it, exaggerated it and built an entire design language around it. Over a decade later, cowhide fashion is fast becoming a recognisable language across Africa and there is something deeply satisfying about watching an idea that once raised eyebrows become part of a much bigger creative conversation.
But beneath the cowhide, the crowns and the gowns has always been something much bigger...identity.
A Tribe Called Zimbabwe has always believed that heritage does not have to remain frozen in history. It can evolve. It can be experimental. It can be luxurious. It can be provocative. It can walk into contemporary spaces across the world and still unmistakably say, Zimbabwe.
