It is with sadness that you have left us so soon T, you will be missed my naughty one

Our colleague Thanduxolo Singqotho passed this weekend. We are deeply saddened at the loss of our clown that made us laugh so often & was also one of our most experienced & highly qualified employees. No height or confined space was too much for Thando. RIP Thando & respect for what you meant in each of our lives. Condolences to the family, our thought are with you.

Was privileged to be part of this operation...

Thursday 14 September:This week we will screen the documentary Salvage of the Costa Concordia. On 13 January 2012, cruise ship Costa Concordia deviated from her planned route at Isola del Giglio, Tuscany, sailed closer to the island, and struck a rock formation on the sea floor. This caused the ship to list and then to partially sink, landing unevenly on an underwater ledge. Thirty three people died in the accident and she was declared a "constructive total loss" by the cruise line's insurer. Her refloating was one of the biggest maritime salvage operations ever attempted. The salvage master in charge of the operation was Cape Town salvage master, Captain Nick Sloane, who was recently overseeing the righting of the Bark Europa near the Waterfront.

The Ship Society rooms are in Duncan Road opposite the Cruise Terminal in Cape Town Harbour. Doors open at 7.30 pm and we start at 8.00 pm. Visitors are very welcome and will pay R30.

Friends, family, braai and super clean oceans! To celebrate World Ocean Day (8 Jun 23), we're hosting a special, super-social PE event on Saturday 10 June at Noordhoek Ski boat Club, 8:00 to 10:00. Part of the and local right here in our waters.

We'll have skips supplied by our friends at Xtreme Projects, that awesome Noordhoek club hospitality, and the groups with the most dirt collected from the ocean get special goodie bags – waterproof cellphone pouches, floating key rings, Clean Ocean Project caps and Crown National spice hampers.

But the main reason to come? A lekker braai and social afterwards (if that PE weather permits, of course!). More details soon, for now, save the date! at Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape
