That ""harmless"" old floor tile? It might not be. π
Asbestos doesn't announce itself. In buildings put up before 1980, it was used in materials you walk past every day β under flooring, wrapped around pipes, layered into ceilings, built into siding.
It can sit there for decades doing no harm. The trouble starts the second someone cuts, drills, or tears into it β and the fibers it releases are invisible and odorless.
That's why ""it's probably fine"" is the most expensive assumption you can make in an older building.
