Those black streaks running down the roof? They're scarier than anything going up on the lawn this week. 👻

Ever notice that one side of the house looks a lot darker than the rest? It's usually the north side, or the side under the trees. Those spots stay shady and damp longer, and with our coastal humidity, that's where mildew and algae like to settle in. On cedar it shows up gray to black, and on vinyl it's usually green.

It's tempting to just pressure wash it, but high pressure can gouge cedar, force water behind siding, and only knock off what you can see. Soft washing uses low pressure and a biodegradable solution that treats the growth itself, and then it rinses away.
