100 hidden ducks??? Yeah, we’re packing up and going home. 😭🦆

I understand what the client was trying to prove: “If you’re cleaning thoroughly, you should find all of these.”

But THIS is not how you address a quality concern with someone providing a service in your home.

Imagine showing up to work and finding out your client created an entire scavenger hunt to secretly test whether you’re doing your job correctly. 😭

That is genuinely degrading.

If you’re unhappy with your cleaning service, COMMUNICATE. Send photos. Explain what’s being missed. Give the cleaner an opportunity to correct it. And if the quality still isn’t meeting your expectations, hire someone else.

But hiding ONE HUNDRED tiny ducks throughout your house so you can tally how many your cleaner finds????

We’re not participating in the Cleaning Hunger Games. 😭

My team would be instructed to leave the ducks exactly where they found them, grab their supplies, lock the door behind them and head to their next client.

Because yes, cleaner technicians are being paid to provide a service, but they’re still human beings who deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. 🫶🏼

What makes a professional cleaner walk into your bathroom and immediately say “OH MY GOD”??? 😭

Soap scum? ❌
Hard water stains? ❌
A questionable toilet? ❌

NOPE.

IT’S THE 58 BOTTLES IN YOUR SHOWER. 😭😭😭

The shampoos. The conditioners. The body washes. The scrubs. The oils. The 4 bottles with approximately one use left that have apparently been fighting for their lives since 2022.

Because if we’re going to actually CLEAN your shower, every. single. bottle. has to come out.
And here’s what most people don’t realize: all of that takes time away from the actual cleaning we can get done in your home.

Removing 58 products, setting them somewhere, cleaning underneath them, cleaning the shower, rinsing, detailing, and then putting your entire collection back exactly where we found it can easily eat up valuable service time.

And when you’re paying for professional cleaners, you probably want that time spent CLEANING — not relocating your entire shower inventory. 😭

We can handle the soap scum.

We can handle the hard water.

We can handle whatever your toilet has going on.

But when we pull back that shower curtain and see a small Ulta Beauty distribution center???

That’s when we know we’re about to be there for a MINUTE. 😂🧼

Cleaner tip: decluttering your shower and bathroom counters before your service = more of your appointment spent actually deep cleaning your home. 👏🏼

As a cleaning company owner, I have seen some absolutely insane things in this industry, but climbing into the CLIENT’S BED for a little paid snooze is genuinely DIABOLICAL.

Did she fluff the pillows first???
Set an alarm???
Put her phone on Do Not Disturb???
Wake up refreshed and clock back in??? 😭

Imagine looking at your invoice afterward knowing part of that labor time was spent in REM SLEEP.

THIS is why hiring, training, supervision, accountability & knowing exactly who you’re sending into someone’s home matters.

Because apparently “please clean the bedroom” needs to come with the clarification:
