Hello Tampa Bay! Today we're in the Palma Ceia neighborhood in Tampa, showcasing the results of a lawn transformation just two months after a new sod installation.

A successful lawn renovation doesn't end when the sod is installed. New grass needs consistent care to establish strong roots and thrive in Florida's climate. Proper watering, mowing at the correct height, and an ongoing lawn treatment program all play an important role in developing a healthy, vibrant lawn.

This property is a great example of what can be achieved when professional installation is paired with the right maintenance plan. With consistent care, new sod can develop into a thicker, greener, and more resilient lawn that enhances your home's curb appeal.

If you're planning a sod installation or want to keep your existing lawn looking its best, Green Image Services can help you build a maintenance program that's designed for long-term success.

It may look like ordinary grass, but torpedo grass is one of the most aggressive invasive w**ds affecting Florida lawns.

Torpedo grass (Panicum repens) spreads through underground stems called rhizomes, allowing it to grow beneath the soil and emerge in new areas of your lawn. These pointed rhizomes are what give torpedo grass its name, as they "torpedo" through the soil and quickly spread throughout your landscape.

Because even small pieces of the rhizomes can produce new growth, simply mowing or pulling torpedo grass is rarely enough to eliminate it. Left untreated, it competes with healthy turf for sunlight, water, and nutrients, eventually taking over sections of your lawn.

How to Identify Torpedo Grass:
β€’ Coarse, stiff blades that stand out from your lawn
β€’ Long, pointed leaf tips with a light-colored center vein
β€’ Uneven patches that spread over time
β€’ Thick white rhizomes growing beneath the soil

Early identification is one of the best ways to prevent torpedo grass from spreading and causing extensive damage.

If you think torpedo grass is invading your lawn, don't wait until it takes over.

Did You Know?

Your sprinkler system can appear to be working perfectly and still leave parts of your lawn without enough water.

Broken nozzles, clogged spray heads, low water pressure, improper sprinkler head alignment, and poor coverage patterns can all create dry spots, even when your irrigation system turns on as scheduled. Over time, these areas become stressed, making your lawn more susceptible to w**ds, insects, disease, and thinning turf.

A sprinkler system should do more than run. It should provide even, consistent coverage across your entire lawn.

If you've noticed brown patches or areas that aren't responding to watering, your irrigation system may be part of the problem.

πŸ“ž Call Green Image Services at (813) 333-3940 to schedule a professional sprinkler inspection and lawn evaluation.

Hello Tampa Bay! We're back in Tropical Shores, St. Petersburg, providing an update on a lawn renovation project that's well underway.

Before new sod can be installed, proper site preparation is essential. Removing the existing grass, invasive w**ds, and underground vegetation helps create a clean foundation for healthy new sod to establish. Skipping this step can allow persistent w**ds, such as torpedo grass, to grow through the new sod and lead to costly problems down the road.

In this video, you'll see the progress after the initial treatment as we prepare the property for the next phase of the renovation. Once the existing vegetation has been fully eliminated, we'll remove the old grass, prepare the soil, and install new sod to give this lawn the best possible start.

A successful sod installation isn't just about laying new grass. It's about doing the preparation correctly from the beginning.

Stay tuned as we continue documenting this transformation from start to finish.

If you've noticed yellowing, browning, or thinning patches in your St. Augustinegrass, chinch bugs could be one possible cause. However, drought stress, irrigation issues, and lawn diseases can create similar symptoms, which is why proper diagnosis is key.

One of the best ways to help your lawn withstand chinch bug pressure is by keeping it healthy with proper watering and consistent irrigation coverage. A stressed lawn is more vulnerable and often takes longer to recover from damage.

Not sure if your sprinkler system is providing enough coverage?

Try this simple test:
Place a container in a healthy green area of your lawn and another in an area showing dry patches. Run your sprinklers and compare how much water collects in each container. Uneven watering could be contributing to lawn stress.

Need help? Green Image Services offers sprinkler inspections for $25 per zone (with a $100 minimum). We’ll inspect your system, make minor adjustments, and provide recommendations for any needed repairs.

Proper W**d Identification Matters

Not all w**ds are the same, and they shouldn't all be treated the same way. Correctly identifying the w**ds growing in your lawn is the first step toward choosing the right treatment and protecting the health of your Florida turf.

Here are the three most common types of w**ds we see throughout the Tampa Bay area:

1. Broadleaf W**ds
Broadleaf w**ds have wide leaves and often produce flowers. Common examples include dollarw**d, clover, and dandelions. These w**ds require herbicides specifically formulated for broadleaf control.

2. Grassy W**ds
Grassy w**ds closely resemble your lawn but compete with your grass for water, nutrients, and sunlight. Crabgrass and goosegrass are two of the most common grassy w**ds found in Florida lawns.

3. Sedge W**ds
Sedges, such as yellow nutsedge and purple nutsedge, thrive in wet or poorly drained areas and grow faster than most turfgrass. Because sedges are not true grasses, they require specialized products for effective control.

Every lawn is different. Soil conditions, grass variety, irrigation, and w**d pressure all play a role in determining the best treatment plan. That's why a professional lawn evaluation is the best way to identify the problem and apply the right solution.

Whether you're dealing with broadleaf w**ds, grassy w**ds, or sedges, Green Image Services can help restore your lawn and keep it looking its best year-round.

A healthy lawn starts with keeping w**ds under control.

W**ds don't just take away from your lawn's appearance. They compete with your grass for water, nutrients, and sunlight, making it harder for your turf to grow thick, healthy, and resilient. Left untreated, w**ds can quickly spread and weaken your lawn over time.

At Green Image Services, our w**d control program is designed specifically for Florida lawns, using targeted treatments to control unwanted w**ds while promoting healthier grass. Combined with proper fertilization and routine lawn care, w**d control helps create a greener, stronger lawn throughout the year.

The best time to address w**ds is before they take over. Consistent treatments and proactive maintenance are key to achieving long-term results.
