🚨 DENGUE FEVER UPDATE: Tampa Bay is Florida's hotspot
Florida has now confirmed 252 locally acquired dengue cases this year, and 88% of them are in Hillsborough County. Hillsborough and Pinellas have both declared local states of emergency.
Dengue is spread by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which breeds in small amounts of standing water right around our homes. That means your backyard matters.
Here's what you can do today:
✅ Tip and toss standing water weekly (planters, toys, birdbaths, gutters, tarps)
✅ Wear EPA-registered repellent outdoors, especially at dawn and dusk
✅ Repair torn window and door screens
✅ See a doctor if you develop fever, headache, joint pain or rash
🛡️ Want an extra layer of protection for your loved ones? Mosquito Shield of Tampa's barrier treatments target mosquitoes where they rest and breed around your yard, so your family can enjoy the outdoors with more peace of mind.
