"Dignified Workday has opened my eyes to what I’m capable of doing.”

At Dignified Workday, we believe that a job is so much more than a paycheck—it’s a pathway off the streets, a sense of purpose, and a source of daily pride.

From cleaning sidewalks and painting under bridges to beautifying our local communities, our crew members show up every day and do work that matters.

Huge thanks to Avista Utilities for creating meaningful opportunities and investing in Dignified Workday and the people we serve!! 💙

What a wonderful evening at the

Last night, Career Path Services had the honor of being one of four nonprofits featured at the Good Gathering at . And what a joy it was to see so many familiar faces, meet new friends, and spend the evening with funders, supporters, and community partners from across Washington!

A heartfelt thank you to Roger Starkweather, Meghan Barnes, and the Nonprofit Advisory Council at World Trade Center Seattle for inviting us to be part of something so special. We're grateful for the care and intention that went into bringing this community together.

One of our favorite moments was hearing Cami Eakins share Wendy's story. Wendy was returning to the workforce after raising her children, and a $70 licensing fee stood between her and her next opportunity. With a little support, she was able to move forward, find employment, and begin a paid pharmacy technician apprenticeship.

It's a story about a small investment making a very real difference in someone's life. And sharing it with a room full of people who care about expanding opportunity was a wonderful reminder of why these relationships matter.

To our board members, longtime partners, new friends, and everyone who took time out of their evening to join us, thank you for showing up for Career Path Services and the communities we serve!

We're grateful for the conversations, the friendships, and the opportunity to keep learning how we can support one another.

In the meantime, take a look at the impact we're making alongside our partners across Washington at www.careerpathservices.org

Here's to all the good that can come from simply bringing people together!

Today, on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we recognize and honor the Native communities whose history, cultures, and contributions are deeply rooted in the places we call home.

At Career Path Services, we’ve made a commitment to begin our meetings, large and small, with a land acknowledgment. It’s a simple practice that gives us a moment to reflect on the history of the land where we live and work, the people who have cared for it for generations, and our responsibility to keep learning.

It’s one small way we try to keep respect, awareness, and inclusion part of our everyday conversations.

Today, we’re especially grateful for the Indigenous communities, colleagues, and partners who continue to shape and strengthen the communities we serve.

Washington is home to 29 federally recognized Tribal Nations, each with its own history, culture, and identity. We invite you to take a moment today to learn about the Indigenous peoples whose ancestral lands you live and work on. Learn their names, explore their histories, and get to know the Native communities that are still very much part of our communities today.

A little curiosity and a willingness to learn can go a long way.

Today was hard.🎈

Over a short period of time, our Dignified Workday community lost three people. Three people we knew. Three people we cared about. Three people who should still be here.

Today, we came together to remember them.

They were completely different from one another. They had different stories, different personalities, different struggles, different hopes. But somehow, their lives crossed paths here. And because they did, they became part of ours too.

We knew their voices. Their humor. Their hard days and their good ones. We watched them show up. We watched them grow. We laughed with them. We worried about them. We rooted for them.

And now there are three empty spaces where people used to be. There really aren’t words for that.

So today, we released balloons. We said their names.

We shared memories. We stood together and tried to make room for a kind of grief that doesn’t have an easy place to go.

This isn’t a story about Dignified Workday. It’s about three human beings whose lives mattered.
They mattered to their families. They mattered to their friends. They mattered to this community. And they mattered to us.

We are grateful we got to know them. We just wish we’d had more time.

What if the most effective anti-poverty strategy isn't a new program, but a different way of thinking about work?

Across Washington, organizations, employers, and communities are asking bigger questions about what creates lasting opportunity.

Thank you to the team at The Spokesman-Review for highlighting an important conversation about work, dignity, and opportunity in our community.

We've been thinking about it too.

More soon.

Dignified Workday is a rapidly growing low-barrier employment program in Spokane that is reshaping how the community supports individuals experiencing homelessness and instability.

Standing Together. Rebuilding Together. 🌲❤️

Our hearts are heavy as we witness the devastating impact of the Spokane Complex Fire. To our neighbors, partners, first responders, and every family facing loss, displacement, or uncertainty: you are not alone.

For more than 50 years, Career Path Services has served communities across Washington. While the immediate impact is being felt most deeply in the Spokane region, we know the strength of our organization and our state is found in how we show up for one another.

As communities begin the long road from emergency response to recovery, we remain committed to standing alongside the people we serve, our partners, and our fellow Washingtonians.

To the firefighters, emergency responders, volunteers, and neighbors opening their hearts, homes, and businesses to help others: thank you. Your compassion reminds us that even in difficult moments, community is stronger than crisis.

Below are links to local support. If your organization is providing verified resources, volunteer opportunities, donation drives, or other ways to support those affected, please share them in the comments so our community can learn from and support one another.

It starts with a simple question: What happens when someone is given a chance instead of a label?

Every day at Dignified Workday, we get to watch the answer unfold.

A crew shows up. Work gets done. A paycheck is earned. Confidence begins to return. What looks like a job on the surface is often the first step toward something much bigger: stability, belonging, and hope.

We're incredibly grateful to Foundation for investing $12,000 in Dignified Workday. Their partnership helps create more opportunities for people to rebuild their lives through meaningful work while strengthening the communities we all share.

This work has never belonged to one organization. It belongs to a community that believes in second chances and the potential of every person.

As communities across the country mark 250 years of our nation's history, we're reflecting on the people who continue to shape what's next.

Strong communities are built when everyone has the opportunity to contribute, belong, and build a future with dignity.

At Career Path Services, that belief guides our work every day. Whether we're supporting job seekers, partnering with employers, or serving alongside our communities, we know opportunity grows when we create it together.

Today, we're grateful for the people who make that possible: our staff, participants, employers, partners, and neighbors.

Wishing everyone a safe, meaningful, and joyful Independence Day.
