PLEASE DON'T DONATE ITEMS FROM A HOME WITH BED BUGS.

Donating gently used items is a wonderful way to help our Siouxland neighbors, but donating items from a home with bed bugs can spread an infestation to local charities and other families.

If you've had bed bugs in your home, please remember:

- Furniture: Do not donate furniture. Infested furniture should be properly discarded, not passed along to someone else.

- Clothing and fabrics: Before considering a donation, dryer-safe items should be treated in the dryer on high heat for at least 30 minutes to kill bed bugs and their eggs. Washing alone is not enough. Only donate items once you are certain they are bed bug-free.

Bed bugs can travel through secondhand items, putting charity workers, volunteers, and the families they serve at risk.

Please help us protect our Siouxland community by keeping bed bugs out of the donation process.

It's getting chilly out there, and we're not the only ones looking for a warm place to spend the winter!

Did you know a mouse can squeeze through an opening about the size of a dime? That means even small gaps around your foundation, garage doors, and utility pipes can be an invitation.

A few things you can do to help keep mice out this fall:

- Seal gaps and cracks around your home.
- Check the weatherstripping around doors.
- Keep food and pet food in sealed containers.

It’s that time of year! Boxelder bugs, stink bugs, and Asian lady beetles are all very active this time of year. They like to gather around the home as the weather cools down.
