Being vigilant and keeping your pool protected is key to ensuring all pool visitors are as safe as possible. Here are a few of our top tips for establishing a safe swimming environment:
1) Fencing is required in PA around all inground pools, and any above-ground pools less than 48" high. Fencing helps in the initiative to lower the number of unwanted visitors or children from entering the pool unsupervised, potentially leading to drowning.
2) USE SAFETY COVERS. Safety covers keep children (and pets) from entering your pool unexpectedly. They also help keep dirt/debris out of your pool to avoid contaminated swimming water.
3) Safety ropes should be in place to visibly establish for visitors the difference in depth.
4) Establish safety rules for your pool, and make sure everyone is aware of them.
5) Keep rescue equipment close to the pool at all times.
6) PAY ATTENTION to all swimmers. Drowning can be silent, and keeping a watchful eye can prevent tragedies.
