**Short Week, Long Commitments**

Yesterday, we paused for Memorial Day to honor the men and women who gave everything for our country.

Today, it’s back to work. Even when offices close, construction never stops.

Summer heat does not make the job any easier, but it does make dependability matter even more. Our crews know that job sites keep moving, deadlines stay on the calendar, and workers still need clean, reliable portable restroom service no matter how hot it gets.

At A&M Portables, we take pride in showing up, putting in the work, and keeping our commitments, short week or not.

🎉 Congratulations to a Downtown Landmark!

We salute the The Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel & Spa for receiving national recognition as the most famous hotel in Alabama! Those of us who have been around for a while certainly understand how you guys deserve the accolade. In the center of the business and entertainment district, the Battlehouse Hotel is a focal point for locals and visitors alike, frequently hosting conventions and providing outstanding accomodation for revelers during our noteworthy Mardi Gras season.

ALABAMA’S MOST FAMOUS HOTEL
Mobile’s own Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel & Spa has been named the most famous hotel in Alabama by Business Insider.

The downtown landmark was featured in Business Insider’s recent list naming the most famous hotel in every state. The publication based its selections on factors including historic value, architectural significance, celebrity sightings, pop culture relevance and local fame.

Business Insider highlighted the Battle House’s deep historical ties, noting the site served as military headquarters for Andrew Jackson during the War of 1812 and later operated as a Confederate hospital during the Civil War.

Originally opened in 1852 by James Battle and his family, the hotel quickly became a gathering place for politicians, business leaders and high society figures across the South. Over the years, guests have included Henry Clay, Jefferson Davis, Ulysses S. Grant and Oscar Wilde.

The original structure was destroyed in a 1905 fire before being rebuilt and reopened in 1908. Following a lengthy closure beginning in 1974, the property underwent a major restoration funded by the Retirement Systems of Alabama and reopened in 2007.

Today, the Battle House remains one of Mobile’s best-known landmarks.

🚄 Next Stop, The Other Terminal!

As a veteran of the local industry in , we regularly mention updates throughout the region. A few of our posts have mentioned the return of Amtrak to the area and how the to New Orleans has exceeded initial rider projections. While this is great news for our area, a lot of people are wondering about the old GM&O Building on Water Street and what purpose it may serve. Here's your answer! Let's be proud of an area landmark, even if it isn't the station this time around!

As a based business, we're thrilled to see local improvements, and road construction is part of the process. We look forward to seeing the finished product!

Traffic Update for Saraland Residents
Please be aware of an upcoming road closure that may impact travel in and around our area. Mobile County will begin work on the College Parkway and Kali Oka Road improvement project, which includes a full rebuild of a section of Kali Oka Road near SR-158.

Kali Oka Road is expected to be closed beginning April 27. This area is a commonly used route for Saraland residents, including school bus traffic, so we encourage everyone to plan ahead and allow extra time for travel.

We’ve seen some bold restroom placements over the years, but a golden toilet making a surprise appearance at a county commission office might take the crown. No answers yet on who placed it there or why, but one thing’s certain: it’s getting people talking.

We’ll stick to delivering reliable solutions where they’re actually needed, but we can appreciate a good sense of humor when we see it.
