Bonanza was such a childhood staple for so many of us. It still feels strange not seeing it there anymore, and honestly, I don’t think Sanford ever fully recovered from losing a place that meant so much to the community.
I’ve had the privilege of cleaning for Geoff and Rachel for over 8 years, and they are truly some of the kindest people I have ever met. Even though I was “just the cleaner,” over the years I grew to care about them deeply. Geoff was always one of those people who left an impression, not only through Bonanza, but through everything he gave back to Sanford and the people around him. His obituary says it well: his life was marked by community, service, generosity, and love.
I am so sad to hear of Geoff’s passing. My heart goes out to Rachel, his children, and the rest of his family. Sanford truly lost a good one.
