That pesky Mustard Algae 🙄
One of the main benefits of having your pool serviced on a regular basis is that your tech can identify things that you may not notice.
At first glance this pool looks “normal”. The chemical readings are in range, especially the chlorine. However, when this tech brushed the pool walls + floor a yellow/brown cloud popped up.
There is a tree in their neighbors yard that dumps a ton of leaves in their pool each week and is also contributing to the algae coating the pebbletec. 🤬
The chemicals are in range so how do we get it out?
In this instance we brushed the entire pool to loosen all the algae and kick it up into the water.
We opened up the filter and gave it a good cleaning. We can tell by the filter that some of it is cycling out but the filter alone can’t tackle this.
Next we added an algaecide and shocked the pool. We will run the pool for 48 hours straight so the algaecide can work its magic and filter all of this out.
As a preventive measure we have found success using a poolrx so we may add one to this pool as well.
In FL this is something we will continue to battle especially during the Spring and Summer months!
