Yesterday marked one year since I officially started Fancy Dips.
I had every intention of making this post yesterday, but I ended up working all day. I guess that's a pretty fitting way to spend the anniversary.
It's kind of crazy looking back at where I was a year ago compared to where I'm at now. What started with me just trying to build something of my own has turned into my full time job and a route full of people who trust me with their pools every week.
I'm definitely not where I want to be yet, but I'm proud of how far it's come in its first year.
To all of my customers, everyone who's recommended me to somebody, shared one of my posts, or supported what I'm doing, thank you. I really do appreciate it.
One year down.
Let's see what year two brings.

Sometimes a pool just gets ahead of you.
The homeowner had been doing her best to keep up with this one, but Florida heat, heavy rain and a little black algae eventually became a much bigger problem.
By the time she called Fancy Dips, the algae had spread throughout the pool and the water chemistry needed some serious attention.
Over the next few days, I worked through it properly. Repeated brushing, targeted treatment, water balancing, filtration and vacuuming to waste.
No overnight miracle. Just knowing what the water needed and giving the process time to work.
These three photos tell the rest of the story.
And now that the recovery is behind us, this pool is joining the Fancy Dips Club for weekly service.

September is here. Issue No. 004 of THE DIP is here with it.

Another Florida summer is starting to wind down, but around here, September still has plenty of summer left in it.
This month's issue is a little bit of looking back, a little bit of looking closer, and everything I've picked up from ten summers spent around pools here in Pinellas County.
