It is so exciting that I get to share my passion and love of the natural world around me with my kids. It is amazing that my daughter is a little version of me. Her heart is set on becoming a zookeeper and her love and passion for the natural world is undeniable. She even wants to go to Hocking College just like her dad!

That is why I entered her into this amazing opportunity. Not only is it a fun competition but if she actually somehow wins, the prize money would be set up for her college education to pursue her dream of being in the wildlife field. And if she’s anything like me, she will follow through just like I did.

Now’s a great time to get your feeders ready—clean them well and fill with a simple 4:1 water-to-sugar mix (no red dye needed!). Planting native flowers can also help attract and nourish them. If you’re planning to spray for bugs, be mindful of those flowers—our pollinators and hummingbirds rely on them!
