Yesterday I had the honor of repairing a Indian War veteran of 1838 at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Jordan, NY.

After the repair I spent the rest of the day in Clyde, NY. Scott and I uprighted one stone during the upright, we found 3 old G.A.R. flag holders. I'll donate the 2 old ones from the 1800s to the Museum of Wayne County History for their new military room.

I also walked Scott around the cemetery and showed him what he can do himself. Scott also got some yard signs made too. Thanks Scott, they look phenomenal! If you take a drive to the back of the Maple Grove Cemetery in Clyde, you can see one of them and 2 stones we are working on.

Today Scott Simmons adventured on his own and did some work at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Clyde. He got 2 headstones prepared to be repaired. One was a Civil War soldier, Andrew J. Clark, who is believed to have died at Salem Church, VA, but his headstone says Cold Harbor. The other person was his wife, who was previously unrecorded.

One interesting thing is that there was a piece preserved really well of the headstone that looked brand new. The headstones were previously repaired with concrete, which we'll have to chip off.

It's like watching a baby bird fly from the nest!

Just got home from a long wet day at the South Perinton Cemetery.

VFW Post 8495 put on a wonderful "day of service" for Perinton. Nearly 100 volunteers showed up and they cleaned over 400 headstones. Me and a couple others went off and repaired 2 1/4 headstones.

We had 2 news channels out with us too!

Alongside me and the VFW, were thatgraveyardgal, A Grave Attraction, and Kristin Nawrocki Bub, who helped control and teach the crowd.

Went out again to the Hall Center Cemetery with the The Marion Historic Association and Museum, thatgraveyardgal, and Scott Simmons today and repaired some headstones. I then went out the the Butler Center Cemetery in Butler and repaired the first 4 stones there.

Hall Center was amazing because people stopped by and actually walked around some even helped out! Probably the most people that has been there since the last funeral.
