Another adventurous day for the Ende septic crew!

Many island properties here in Minnesota have septic systems that need regular maintenance. Since trucks can't drive on water (yet), the only way to get the job done is by loading our heavy septic truck onto a barge and sailing out to the property.

Today, we had three island homes that needed maintenance pumping. People think septics are boring, but out here, pumping septic systems is a true adventure!

If you know, you know!

To the untrained eye, it’s just a patch of rough dirt. To us, it’s the foundation of a perfect mound system. This is a rough-up, which occurs prior to the mound sand being installed. In many counties we have a mandatory rough-up inspection before we start building the mound.

Fun fact: We can only do this step when the soil is completely dry. Scarifying wet dirt causes "smearing," which seals up the ground and ruins the drain field before it even starts.

Patience pays off when it comes to quality septics!
