Some of our favorite projects come with more than a finished room. ✨

This whole-home collaboration with Liz Walton Home started in this foyer with custom bench cushions. From there, we fabricated drapery, Roman shades, more bench cushions, and pillows throughout the home. Each piece was tailored to the room it lives in, but working together as one cohesive whole.

A couple of years ago, Liz and her team came out to our atelier for a Lunch & Learn. We talked fabric, process, the realities of custom work. Afterward, she sent us a note. We still have it.

Since then, we've collaborated with Liz on project after project. That's the part of this work that doesn't always make it into a photo. The window treatments were just the first reason we got to know each other. The relationship we've built and the happy clients along the way are the reason we keep doing this.

Partway into installing this arched cornice board trio, part of a phased Malvern new-build we've been collaborating on with AKD Interiors, our team caught something a rendering can't always show you. The design wasn't blocking the light and hardware the way it needed to.

We stopped immediately and went back to the atelier. We'd rather get it right than move forward with something subpar.

This is where having an in-house team makes the difference. Our project managers, fabricators, and installers all know this project across every phase, not a rotating cast handing off pieces of the puzzle with no context. When everyone understands the whole picture, nothing slips through the cracks.

Anybody can sew a drape. But can they do the complicated one, the nuanced style, the difficult site condition, the project where everything has to be in step with every other partner in the room? That's when designers call us.

There’s a shift happening in how designers are specifying soft furnishings, and it’s a good one.

For a long time, upholstery and window treatments were the last decision in a room, added once the architecture was finished. Now they’re part of the architecture itself. The industry is calling it Soft Architecture, and this bunk room we fabricated with Bergman Vass is one of the clearest examples we’ve worked on.

Upholstered walls and headboards, cornices, and valances can all work the same way. The fabric stops reading as an accessory or accent and instead becomes part of the room’s structure, not something layered on top of it.

Grateful to Benita Cooper Design for the tag, and for the chance to be part of this project.

This bay window was no small technical challenge. No two measurements on any of the windows matched, which meant every Roman shade had to be engineered and fabricated individually to read as one seamless, uniform line across the space.

But the real story of this Haddonfield, NJ home belongs to the room itself. As Benita described it, this home is for a couple stepping into a new chapter after decades of impact and service, a space that is purely their own.

This room called for drama, and we were happy to deliver. ✨ When Christina Henck of Henck Design brought us onto this Main Line project, the dining room already had a plan to extend the home's cream and ivory palette, then push it bolder with accents of gold and a hand-finished, wet-look Italian plaster ceiling unlike anything we typically see.

We fabricated custom burnt-orange velvet draperies, installed with artisan hardware, for a statement strong enough to hold its own against that ceiling without competing with it.

The chairs told their own story. What you see now started as the family's existing dining chairs from their previous home, reupholstered in a combination selected by the Henck Design team to pull tonal threads from the rest of the space together.

Here, bold color and careful restraint create an impactful design where every element was chosen to work in balance.

I have known Roger Magalhaes for years. We both started our window treatment businesses around the same time (20 years ago!), and he is one of the true icons of this industry. Getting to sit down for a real conversation on his podcast, No Strings Attached, was so much fun.

On the show, I shared some of my own story. How I got started, why I made the decision early on to build a workroom and serve design professionals exclusively, and how a fire that could have set us back ended up becoming one of the biggest turning points for our growth.

Earlier this year, I stood in front of a room of design professionals at the International Window Coverings Expo and told them what I think is coming next for luxury window treatments.

I did not guess. I spent months tracking what our top designer partners were specifying, which materials kept resurfacing, and which questions came up again and again on site visits and in fittings.
