Happy Halloween from all of us at WaveMAX.

Go enjoy tomorrow night. Let them run the whole street. Let the costume get chocolate on it, the knees get grass on them and the face paint end up somewhere face paint was never meant to be. That is the entire point of the night and it only lasts a few years.

When the sugar wears off and the pile is on the floor Saturday morning, we will be here. Clean machines, plenty of them, wide folding tables and a friendly team.

A quick note for Saturday: rinse anything with chocolate or face paint in cold water before it goes in, and keep it away from the dryer until the stain is gone. And do not leave the costume sitting damp in a bag, because in this climate that is a two-day problem.

Wash Wednesday Tip: Save this one. You are going to need it Sunday morning!

Halloween produces a specific set of stains, but all of them are beatable if you move fast and avoid hot water:

Chocolate: Scrape off excess with a spoon instead of rubbing, which grinds cocoa butter into the weave. Rinse from the back with cold water.

Face Paint & Makeup: Since these are grease based, work in a drop of dish soap to break down the oil. Blot gently, then wash in cold water.

Fake Blood & Hairspray: These are dye based, so speed matters. Rinse with cold water immediately until it runs clear.

Universal Rule: No heat! Always check for stains before drying, because a hot dryer sets missed spots permanently.

Almost everyone washes their sheets, but few know the schedule for the rest of the bed. Here is the full guide.

Sheets and pillowcases need a wash every week. In humid climates, weekly is the bare minimum. Duvet covers should be washed every two weeks. Blankets and throws need attention every 4 to 6 weeks, or more often with pets and kids.

Mattress protectors are the most forgotten: wash those every 2 months. Comforters and quilts need a wash 2 to 3 times a year, plus right before and after storage. Finally, wash pillows every 4 to 6 months. Wash two at a time to balance the drum, and dry completely to prevent trapped moisture and odor.

Most of this heavy bedding will not fit in a home washer. Bring the whole bed to WaveMAX and get it done all at once!

Consejo para Halloween: saca los disfraces esta semana, no el 31 de octubre por la tarde.

Hay dos razones. La primera es el olor. La ropa que pasó un año guardada en una caja, con la humedad de esta zona, agarra un olor que nadie quiere traer puesto durante cuatro horas. Se quita fácil, pero necesitas tiempo.

La segunda es que los disfraces salen de la caja con costuras abiertas, broches faltantes y manchas del año pasado. Descubrirlo una semana antes es un pendiente pequeño. Descubrirlo a las cinco de la tarde con los niños ya emocionados es otra cosa.

La mayoría quedan bien en ciclo delicado con agua fría dentro de una bolsa de malla, que protege los adornos pegados y las costuras delgadas. Después, a secar al aire. El calor deforma la espuma y derrite el pegamento.

Funny Friday: Forget haunted houses. The genuinely frightening thing this month is behind the closet door, growing quietly since August.

You know the one. It started small, absorbed the towels, and then claimed the chair. At this point, you are not doing laundry: you are conducting an excavation.

Good news. What looks like six loads at home is usually just one load here. Our large-capacity machines take the whole pile at once, wash it with enough water to actually rinse, and dry it completely. In about an hour, your closet floor is visible again.

Or hand the entire situation to our team and pick it up washed, dried, and folded, sorted by color with the socks matched.

Either way, the pile does not survive the weekend.

Wash Wednesday Tip: Pull Halloween costumes out this week, not on the afternoon of October 31.

First, there is the smell. Costumes stored in a humid garage or attic pick up a distinct musty odor that washes out easily, if you start ahead of time.

Second, there is the prep. Storage conceals popped seams, missing snaps, and old stains. Discovering those a week early is an easy fix; discovering them at 5:00 PM on Halloween is a nightmare.

Most costumes wash safely on a cold, gentle cycle inside a mesh bag to protect delicate trim and seams. Always hang them to dry, as heat warps foam, melts glue, and shrinks cheap polyester.

Check them now so the big night goes smoothly..

Living near the coast has its advantages, but high humidity is tough on damp fabric.

When laundry is pulled from the dryer, thick seams, waistbands, and folded towels often retain hidden moisture. In humid air, that trapped moisture cannot evaporate in the closet, leading to mildew and a basement smell just days later.

Preventing it takes two steps: do not overload the washer, and dry thoroughly with real heat. Our commercial dryers are built to dry completely all the way through.

If your towels or bedding already smell musty, a hot wash with proper water volume and a full dry will bring them back.

If laundry comes out smelling faintly like the hamper, the washer is the problem.

Washing requires detergent to lift dirt and enough water to flush it away. In an overloaded home washer, there is not enough water to rinse everything out, so lifted soil settles back into the fibers. Weak dryers then leave thick areas damp, creating the perfect environment for odors to trap, especially in high humidity.

Our commercial machines use significantly more water per pound for a full rinse, and our high-powered dryers finish the job completely. Come see what clean clothes are actually supposed to smell like.

Nobody likes thinking about it, but your sheets collect dead skin, sweat, and body oils every night. This creates a breeding ground for dust mites and bacteria, especially in humid air. By day seven, dirty bedding can cause morning congestion, breakouts, or faint odors.

The fix is simple: wash sheets and pillowcases weekly in the warmest safe water and dry them completely.

Anyone who has lived on this coast for a season knows the drill. The forecast turns, and suddenly everybody is doing the same errands at the same time.

Laundry is worth doing early, and not for dramatic reasons. If the power goes out you cannot run a washer or a dryer, and wet laundry sitting in a machine for two warm days is ruined in a way that is genuinely hard to reverse. Clean, dry clothes, towels and bedding in the closet is simply one less thing on the list.

So when the week looks unsettled, run the load then rather than after. Get everything fully dry and put away. Do not leave a finished load sitting in the washer overnight.

If you do end up with laundry that sat wet too long, bring it in. A hot wash with proper water volume and a full dry will save most of it, and that is not something a home machine does well.
