Bald-faced hornets are no joke. 🐝⚫️⚪️

These large black-and-white “hornets” are actually a type of aerial yellowjacket, and they’re known for being highly defensive if you get too close to the nest. Their paper nests are often built high in trees, but we also see them on eaves, sheds, and along rooflines.

Signs you may have an active nest nearby:
✅ Lots of hornets flying in and out of one area
✅ You notice them hovering around the same tree/roofline daily
✅ A gray, football-shaped paper nest (often partially hidden)

If you suspect bald-faced hornets on your property, don’t try to handle it yourself—give us a call and we’ll take care of it safely.

🐜 Odorous House Ants are one of the most common ants we see in Raleigh—especially in spring.

If you’ve noticed ants showing up in the kitchen or bathroom, this is often why: they’re constantly searching for sweets, water, and warm shelter, and they can slip in through the smallest gaps. A big giveaway is the strong “musty/rotten coconut” smell some people notice when they crush one.

Seeing trails or repeat activity? That usually means there’s a colony nearby—and it’s best to treat it at the source.

❌ MYTH. Termites will feed on sound, healthy wood too—framing, floor joists, trim, and more. Moisture can make wood easier to invade, but it doesn’t have to be “rotting” for termites to cause serious damage.

🦟 Mosquito season is starting—now’s the time to watch for standing water.

Mosquitoes can breed in as little as a bottlecap of water, and it only takes a few days for eggs to turn into biting adults. Check your yard for:
✅ Buckets / toys / tarps
✅ Bird baths & plant saucers
✅ Clogged gutters
✅ Low spots that hold water
✅ Old tires or anything that collects rain

Dump it, refresh it, or drain it—then enjoy your yard again. If mosquitoes are already bad at your house, ask us about our mosquito treatments to help knock them down where they rest.
