Three construction workers who worked on a publicly funded Baltimore school project reached a $150,000 settlement after being misclassified and denied wages they were legally owed.
EASRCC Executive Secretary-Treasurer William C. Sproule emphasized the need for stronger enforcement of prevailing wage laws and worker protections:
βThis settlement serves as a reminder that prevailing wage laws are only effective when actively enforced. Taxpayer money should not be stolen from the hard-working people building our public schools. State-funded projects should include Project Labor Agreements and Responsible Contractor Language to establish clear standards and accountability.β

Three workers who say they were paid $20.04 less per hour than required on the state-funded project will receive $150K from contractors.
