What Happens When Your Business Is in One State… and You’re in Another?

You get a concierge.

One of our clients now lives out of state but continues to run his business here locally.

So while he's handling business from afar, we're handling some of the things that still need to happen here.

Every week, we:
📬 Check his local P.O. box
📄 Sort and organize his mail
💻 Provide remote computer assistance
🗂️ Help organize important digital files
🗑️ Delete years of files he no longer needs

This week, we tackled his old computer files. Years of digital clutter had accumulated, making it harder to find the things he actually needed. So we sorted, deleted, and organized.

Because here's the thing about clutter: It doesn't have to be physical to slow you down. A desktop full of random files can be just as frustrating as a desk covered in paperwork. And when you're running a business from another state, having someone you trust locally can make a pretty big difference.

A client recently called us because she had a pest problem in her garage. Her first thought was, “I need pest control.”

Our first thought was, “Let’s figure out what’s attracting them.”

We helped her clean out and organize the garage, and we recommended a pest control company we trust to take a look. After evaluating the situation, they told her something she probably didn't expect: She didn't actually need the treatment she had scheduled.

The clutter and conditions in the garage were the bigger issue. So instead of spending a couple hundred dollars on a service she didn't need, she was able to address the actual problem.

That's one of the things we love about what we do. We don't just come in and check off a list. We look at the bigger picture and help our clients find the simplest, most efficient solution.

Sometimes that means organizing a garage. And sometimes it means helping you realize you don't need to spend money on something after all.

Today is a day to celebrate the work we do, and maybe give ourselves permission to do a little less of it.

We hear a lot about data centers these days, and understandably, people have questions about their environmental impact and what their growth means for our communities.

But there’s another part of the conversation worth thinking about: Our own digital clutter.

The “cloud” isn't some magical place where our information floats around. Our emails, photos, videos, documents and files are stored on physical servers in data centers.

We're not suggesting that deleting 500 emails will stop a data center from being built. But collectively, our habit of storing everything forever contributes to an ever-growing mountain of digital information.

So maybe it's time to take a look at our own digital footprint. How many thousands of emails are sitting in your inbox that you'll never read again? How many duplicate photos are taking up storage? How many files are sitting in the cloud that you haven't opened in five years?

Not everything needs to be kept forever.

What if preserving a memory doesn’t mean keeping the thing?

A piece of jewelry can become a work of art.
A collection of music can bring comfort to someone else.
A photograph can become a doorway into a story I’ve heard a hundred times, or one I’m hearing for the very first time.

When I sorted through my mother’s belongings after her passing, I realized that the most important question wasn’t: “Should I keep this?”

It was: “How can I honor the story this represents?”

That simple shift changed everything for me. Because sometimes the story is more valuable than the object itself.

There’s no better time to ask about your family’s stories than while the people who know them best are still here to tell them.

Ask about the old photograph.
Write down the family recipe.
Find out who is in that picture from 1965.
Ask why Grandma wore that necklace every Christmas.
Record the story behind Grandpa’s favorite chair.
Label the people in your photo albums.

These conversations may seem small now, but someday they may become some of the greatest treasures your family inherits.

I learned this firsthand while organizing my mother’s estate and it changed the way I see memory preservation forever.

Moving to a new area is exciting… until you realize you still have to UNPACK.

Our clients had recently moved into the area and were completely overwhelmed by everything that still needed to be done. Boxes, piles, closets that needed attention, and a small office that had become the landing spot for… well, everything.

So we stepped in!

We completely unpacked and organized the moms’ and dads’ belongings, put everything away in their closets and dressers, and transformed the little office space from a pile of stuff into a functional, organized workspace.

Sometimes you don’t need more time. You just need someone to help you get over the finish line.
