Almost every health tech org we meet is sitting on the same problem: HL7 v2 feeds nobody wants to touch, a data warehouse that was modern a decade ago, and an analytics team working around both instead of on top of clean data.
This is the unglamorous work, and it's also the prerequisite for everything people actually want to talk about — AI, real-time analytics, agentic workflows. None of that holds up on a shaky data foundation. Modernizing doesn't have to mean a multi-year rip-and-replace; it means figuring out what's actually consuming the data before you re-architect how it's stored.
On AWS, that usually looks like HealthLake, Glue, and Lake Formation working together — a real migration path rather than a fresh rebuild. We've moved clients off legacy warehouses onto exactly this kind of stack, and the sequencing matters more than the tooling.
