We improvised and contacted everyone coming to the upick to come earlier. We avoided the rain and as everyone was leaving we all enjoyed some sprinkles. Thanks to everyone that came this evening we had fun!!

Our next upick is this Saturday 8/15. Guess what?? The upick dahlia field is now open. Come make a beautiful bouquet with us.

Things NEVER go as expected!!! Keep reading….

Congrats to Alex and Renee who were our first official wedding and reception ever at the farm!! Your day is going to be hard to top!! I had such a fun time setting up all your decorations and being behind the scenes for your wedding!

Today was way harder than we expected though as we were preparing for the wedding, our poor Tilly got real sick last night. Juliana was supposed to help me set up but instead spent hours in the urgent care with her. I wish I could tell you we got some answers but instead all her symptoms persisted and got much worse so at 6pm Jason had to leave and take her to the ER. So, here I am, unexpectedly alone, well not really there is a wedding here, but in my head I’m alone and so worried about my girl. If you are the praying type, please say a quick prayer for her.

Alright back to being the clean up crew! I will share more later!!

Tuesday was the perfect morning for our Mom & Me U-Pick, with professional mini shoots by Carleys Captured Moments. 🌸

The morning was filled with laughter, a few tears, and so much joy. One of the best parts was watching the moms come together—supporting one another, stepping in when needed, and truly having each other’s backs.

It was so special to see the full spectrum of childhood—little babes who were done picking before they even started, all the way to proud, independent kids carefully choosing every stem for their own beautiful bouquet.

I got a big laugh out of the kids’ fascination with our outdoor restroom. 😂. During check-in, I reassured the moms there was no need to fear our porta john—it’s one of the cleanest I’m sure they’ve ever seen. One little guy asked, “Does it have flowers?”

Of course it does!! 🌸 Plus wet wipes, and if you can believe it… it actually smells good! Let’s just say quite a few curious heads had to peek in and see for themselves.

No matter what was happening in each moment, it was all beautiful… because we were surrounded by connection, love, and the simple magic of being together.

Would you be on board with making this a Mom & Me tradition?

I am so glad today is over!! While we had so much fun, I am completely exhausted and rethinking how much I thought was okay to fit into one day!!

This whole week has started bright and early with picking. We have a lot going on this weekend, and the flowers are abundant.

At 9:30 AM, we had a lovely senior private pick. A wonderful senior community from Holly came, toured the field, and made bouquets. We truly enjoyed their company! No pictures to share yet, as some prefer not to have their photos posted online.

The afternoon was filled with wedding prep and flower-making. I don’t have photos of that yet either—I want the couple to see everything in person first. No spoilers here!

At 6:00 PM, we hosted a private U-pick party celebrating friends and graduating seniors heading off to college. Such a lovely group!

Then 8:00 PM rolled around, and it was time to make bouquets for Essence On Main tomorrow. If you stop by, it’ll be hard to choose—no two bouquets are the same, and the variety right now is incredible (you can see it in the pics!).

Now that I’ve finally had 10 minutes to sit down, it’s time to celebrate… with a shower.

One last note—if you made it this far—we will not be at the Ortonville Farmers Market this weekend. Send me a message if you’d like to pick up a bouquet from the Blossom Shop.

And for my fellow readers who made it to the end… drop a 🙌 or 👏 in the comments so I know you’re here!

Are you a write-it-down kind of person?

Last night the dog woke me up, and it took me a good hour to fall back asleep. My brain was spinning, running through all the upcoming tasks. Today, I made sure to write out a priority list—because nothing feels better than getting it out of my head and crossing things off.

I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts, Jenny Marks - The Business Side Of Flower Farming, and she said something that really stuck with me: “Your brain is made for thinking, not remembering!” Such a lightbulb moment. I know how good it feels to get it all out and onto paper—it’s like a heavy weight has been lifted.

So while I regret not making my list yesterday (and losing that sleep), I did spend a chunk of it organizing our upcoming events and getting everything down. I hope it helps you see what’s coming up during one of the best flower months of the season!

We’ve got some fun new events: Flights with Flowers – Dahlias, Pick with Pups, and Western Wine Night. And of course, some returning favorites we love: Henna in the Flowers and Dreaming of Dahlias (an educational workshop).

Are you a list maker?

No your not hallucinating. I promise it’s still summer, but in the world of flower farming, we always have to be far ahead of the game in order to be successful. So I spent a good part of today planning a new event and driving around finding these adorable pumpkin mugs.

The problem is since it’s new, I can’t really show you what it’s going to be like, but I CAN describe it……Imagine sweater weather moving in and the leaves are changing. You decide this is the final event you will attend at BAREFOOT BLOSSOM FARM for the season. Not only will you learn to design a beautiful bouquet to take home in this reusable pumpkin mug, once finished, we will be doing watercolor paintings of our creations.

I am so excited to blend two beautiful artistic ways together. You know I will be painting and designing right along side of you. AND depending on weather, we have to have some hot or cold cider and a fall treat!!

Sound amazing?!? Let’s not rush away summer though. We will just mark our calendars for 9-26. This is when the pumpkin pick and paint will occur. VERY LIMITED SPOTS.

Tickets for all our September events go on sale this SUNDAY. Make sure you are on our email list so you don’t miss any of the details.

“Cookies Gone Wrong!” “Haste makes waste!” “Beautiful Feed ruined by Reality!”
All good start ups for this post! You see I found out my very last cheesecake was eaten by the usual suspect 🙄 and tonight I needed a dessert!! So I quickly through together some chocolate dump cookies but had no time for the butter to soften or to measure all that went in. 🫣
Well my hastiness led to “Cookies Gone Wrong!” Luckily I have 6 young adults in my house currently happy to eat my reject cookies.
On a brighter note, thanks to all who stopped by the Downtown Ortonville Farmer's Market and Essence On Main to pick up a bouquet. It was a successful flower weekend because of you! Even some@fabulous special orders

Ok my ramblings lead to this: I am grateful for the rain and time/resources to make the flatty cookies. Sorry for interrupting the beautiful flower feed with this mess but I had to share that it’s not all sunshine and flowers over here!!🤣
