I see determination.

Hard to believe that just two years ago, he had to stand on his tippy toes just to wash the tops of the bins… and now he towers over them. ❤️

No matter the outcome of the Sunset Beach Roll-Cart Program, one thing will remain the same: Tripp will still be here for the people of Brunswick County who need him and that includes every council member!

Two years ago, Riptide Bins started with an idea, a lot of determination, and even a little bait being dumped at a public access. 😂 What started as a young boy with an idea has grown into a young entrepreneur who is now truly being recognized for the business he has worked so hard to build.

His determination, gratitude, and appreciation for every customer, every opportunity, and every person who has believed in him continue to drive him day after day.

Those who have taken the time to talk with Tripp and truly get to know him understand that he is a unique young man. He works harder than he probably should at 16 years old—but the truth is, this is what he wants. He had a vision, he continues to have goals, and he is willing to put in the work to chase them.

Regardless of what happens with one program or one opportunity, Riptide Bins isn’t going anywhere.

The tide keeps moving. And so does Tripp. 🌊

Tripp continues to grow Riptide Bins throughout Brunswick County, proving that big dreams can start right here in our own community, with a huge community support system. 🌊🗑️

🌊 SUNSET BEACH ROLL CART SERVICES — WHERE WE STAND

After yesterday’s meeting, Riptide Bins, LLC - Tripp our 16 year old owner/ operator wants to clarify additional information surrounding the Town of Sunset Beach Roll Cart Services and where things stand.

The Town DID conduct a process in July/August.

That process:

✅ RFQ advertised under Town’s Legal Advertisements
✅ Solicited qualifications/proposals
✅ Established a deadline
✅ Established evaluation/submission requirements
✅ Received proposals
✅ Identified Riptide Bins, LLC as the contractor coming out of that process

The September agenda specifically discusses finalizing a contract with Riptide, while the previous process is now being referred to as an informal process, even though it was listed under Legal Advertisements and had established requirements and a deadline.

📌 WHAT TRIPP IS ASKING

Tripp is asking Sunset Beach residents and Town Council to CHOOSE OPTION 1 so he can move forward and finalize the opportunity he was selected for — rather than having that opportunity taken away after he stepped up and completed the process.

One concern raised by the Town is the additional administrative work involved.

Rather than asking the Town to absorb that workload, Tripp is willing to take it on himself.

Riptide Bins, LLC plans to provide:

📱 A dedicated phone/contact system
💻 A dedicated webpage
👥 Staff to handle enrollment and resident questions
📋 The administrative responsibilities associated with the program

💰 THIS IS NOT TAXPAYER FUNDED

The service will be resident-funded — NOT Town/tax funded.

It will also be completely optional. Residents can choose whether or not they want to participate.

MAINLAND:
$4/month per household
$8/month if you choose both takeout + return

ISLAND:
$4.75/month per household due to the twice-weekly summer pickup schedule
$9.50/month if you choose both takeout + return

Residents who do not want the service simply do not have to opt in.

Our goal is to provide a valuable optional service to residents while taking the administrative burden off the Town as much as possible — allowing Riptide Bins, LLC to remain an approved vendor for the Town of Sunset Beach.

And for us, this is about more than a business opportunity.

As a parent, I want Tripp to learn that when you are asked to step up, you step up.

Everything is earned, not given.

You work hard.
You take responsibility.
You keep your word.

Because in business and in life, your word is all you have.

Tripp stepped up, went through the process, was identified as the contractor, and is now willing to take on even more responsibility to make this work for the Town and its residents.

We are simply asking residents and Council to allow him to follow through on the opportunity he worked so hard for and earned.

Today, we celebrate the people who make our community what it is.

Labor Day is more than a long weekend—it’s a chance to recognize the hardworking men and women who keep our small towns moving. The teachers who show up every morning, the first responders who answer the call, the small-business owners who take a chance on themselves, the restaurant workers, contractors, landscapers, healthcare workers, public servants, fishermen, tradespeople, and everyone who quietly works behind the scenes to make our community a better place.
