🌊 SUNSET BEACH ROLL CART UPDATE! GREAT NEWS FOR EVERYONE IN OUR SERVICE AREA 🗑️

Big things are happening at Riptide Bins! We are excited to announce that Tripp Kelly, our 16-year-old owner and operator, has secured storefront space and is already working on getting it cleaned up and ready to go! 🎉

📍 Our new location will be between Ocean Isle Beach and Sunset Beach, off Beach Drive!

This is an exciting next step for Tripp and Riptide Bins, LLC, but more importantly, it gives him another way to serve the community that has supported him from the very beginning.

🏛️ An Update on Sunset Beach Roll Cart Service

At the Town Council’s September meeting, Tripp came forward with a proposal to help make the roll-cart program easier for residents and less of an administrative burden for the Town. His proposal included securing local commercial space and hiring a receptionist to help coordinate scheduling, answer questions, and assist residents, as outlined in the original request for proposals.

At the October meeting, Sunset Beach Town Council had a choice of Option 1: Authorize staff to finalize a contract with Riptide Bins LLC, the contractor identified through the Town’s RFP process or Option 2: Do not establish a Town-administered roll-back service. Allow property owners to contract directly with qualified private providers. The council selected Option 2. While this wasn’t the outcome Tripp had hoped for, after going through the RFP process, he isn’t giving up!

We know residents continue to have concerns about coordinating the timely removal and return of their carts. Fines are still in place. Tripp believes there is an opportunity to help, and he is determined to do everything he can to make that happen independently.

💚 A Storefront With a Purpose

This new space isn’t just about expanding a business. It’s about being accessible to the people we serve.

Tripp knows this community. He understands that not everyone wants to sign up online or coordinate everything by phone. Having a physical location gives our residents, especially our seniors, an opportunity to stop in, speak with someone personally, ask questions, and sign up for services with confidence.

At just 16 years old, Tripp continues to show that building a business means more than making money. It means listening to your neighbors, finding solutions, and looking for ways to give back to the community that has believed in him.

💲 Affordable Pricing Is Our Priority!

We are still working through the numbers to bring you the most affordable pricing possible for roll-out and roll-back services. And this won’t be limited to Sunset Beach! We want to make these options available throughout our service areas.

Our goal is to offer flexible options for different needs and budgets, including our seniors and residents who may be on a fixed income. We know these services aren’t affordable for everyone, and while we can’t promise that every situation can be accommodated, we will do our best to keep pricing accessible and explore ways to help.

We’re currently developing several options:

🌊 Annual pricing for year-round service
☀️ Six-month summer-exclusive pricing for seasonal residents
🗓️ Monthly and as-needed options for added flexibility
🗑️ One-time service options when you need help on an individual occasion

Our goal is to finalize pricing and begin registration on November 1, hopefully in time to coincide with our grand opening!

New pricing is expected to begin in January, and we’ll have early sign-up specials you won’t want to miss!

We are still accepting new customers and appreciate all our new customers that have moved over as well as our existing customers!

📲 Want to Be Among the First to Know?

Call or text 910-536-3663 with your name and phone number to be added to our callback list. We’ll reach out with more information as registration and pricing become available.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for continuing to support Tripp and Riptide Bins. The encouragement this young entrepreneur has received from our community has exceeded anything we could have imagined.

He’s only 16, but he’s already learning that when one door closes, sometimes you have to open another yourself.

And that’s exactly what he’s doing! 🌊💪

Tripp will be offering some additional services with this new space and we are excited for his growth, bin cleaning, rollout/return service, emergency trash removal and more to come. He’s your one stop guy for anything trash related!

Thank you for believing in Tripp, supporting local business, and helping Riptide Bins continue to grow.

🌊 Hey everyone, Riptide Bins here! 🌊

We know we’ve been a little quiet over the last few days, but we had a pretty special reason! We were busy celebrating a beautiful wedding as Tripp’s sister, McCayla Kelly, officially became Mrs. McCayla Ivey! 💍👰🏼‍♀️

We are so happy to share another local small business that helped make this dream wedding come true in true fashion and style! We had an outstanding celebration at the Tin Roof Venue, just a short drive to Tabor City, NC, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the beautiful setting and wonderful experience!

A huge shout-out to the owners and operators of the Tin Roof Venue for helping make such a special time in our family’s life so memorable. Thank you for everything you did for our family. It truly means more than you know! ❤️

If you’re looking for a beautiful wedding venue or event space within a short drive of Brunswick County, the Tin Roof Venue is definitely one to check out! You won’t be disappointed!

Now that the wedding festivities are behind us, we’re getting back to business and look forward to continuing to serve our amazing Brunswick County community! 🗑️🌊

We have some exciting news to announce later in the week! Thank you all for supporting your local business!

🚨📢 SUNSET BEACH ROLL-CART SERVICE UPDATE — OCTOBER 5 AGENDA 📢🚨

Sunset Beach residents — the Trash Roll-Cart Service item is back on the Town Council agenda for tomorrow October 5, 5pm and we are once again asking those who wish to support Tripp and Riptide Bins to please reach out to the Town of Sunset Beach Council or show up and make your voice heard.

For those who may not be familiar with the history, here is where things stand:

The Town originally provided roll-cart/rollback services for Sunset Beach Island residents. The service was same as the rollback service already available on Ocean Isle Beach and Holden Beach Island.

After the Town discontinued the previous rollback service following a resident trespassing complaint, the Town chose to go through a formal process to identify a contractor. Riptide Bins participated in that process and was subsequently named as the selected vendor.

The Town later expressed concerns about the administrative workload involved in managing the program. Rather than walking away, Tripp offered the Town another solution: Riptide would take on the administrative responsibility — including developing a dedicated Sunset Beach website, handling customer communication and scheduling, obtaining a commercial space to serve as a customer interface, and working toward hiring a receptionist to help manage the program.

Tripp has made a significant commitment to this opportunity, including securing his first commercial space and putting the infrastructure in place to be able to serve Sunset Beach residents.

And to be clear:

This is not a Town-funded service.
It is an optional, resident-funded service for residents who choose to participate.

With the item returning to Council on October 5, we respectfully ask residents who support having this option available to contact the Town and let them know.

One question we continue to believe deserves a clear answer is:

If the Town had a right of refusal under the original proposal, and that right was not exercised before Tripp/Riptide Bins was named the selected vendor, what specific provision now gives the Town authority to withdraw or reverse that selection?

We are not asking anyone to make a decision based on emotion or simply because they support Tripp. We are asking for clarity about the process and the contractual authority being relied upon.

Tripp has put his time, resources, and faith into making this work — and he has offered a solution that would reduce the administrative burden on the Town while providing residents with an optional service.

We are hopeful that on October 5, the Council will provide clarity and a path forward.

🎉📚 September Student of the Month: Forrest “Tripp” Kelly! 📚🎉

Please join us in congratulating WBHS junior Forrest “Tripp” Kelly as our September Student of the Month! 👏

Tripp’s accomplishments extend well beyond the classroom. While maintaining a 2.8 GPA and taking BCC courses alongside his high school requirements, Tripp is also the owner and operator of Riptide Bins, LLC, a trash bin cleaning company based in Ocean Isle Beach.

Since launching the business in August 2024, Tripp has grown Riptide Bins to more than 200 recurring customers and has cleaned an estimated 2,000+ bins this year alone! 🚮✨

His service area currently includes communities throughout Brunswick County and North Myrtle Beach, with plans to continue expanding after graduation. He has also been recognized with the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce Business Support Grant, featured in the Brunswick Beacon, and selected as one of the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce/South Brunswick Magazine Future 10 recipients.

Tripp plans to graduate early and continue growing his business, with plenty of ideas for future services and ways to serve his community.

We’re proud to recognize a student who is already putting his ideas into action and building something of his own. Congratulations, Tripp! 🎉👏
