I know the internet loves vinegar for cleaning almost everything, but please be careful with that advice!

Vinegar is acidic, and it can damage marble, travertine, limestone, and some other natural stone surfaces.

And once that beautiful polished finish gets dull or etched, washing it again isn't going to bring it back.

If you have natural stone countertops, floors, or shower walls, use a cleaner made for that type of stone.

Vinegar has plenty of good uses around the house.

Your expensive marble countertop doesn't need to be one of them. 😄

A cleaning tip that could save you from a nasty mistake.

If you're using a disinfectant spray, read how long the surface needs to stay wet.

Some products need several minutes to properly disinfect.

Spraying the bathroom counter and wiping it off two seconds later might clean the counter, but it doesn't mean you've disinfected it.

And please, don't start mixing cleaners because you want something stronger. Bleach mixed with vinegar or ammonia can produce dangerous fumes.

Those instructions in tiny letters on the bottle? Sometimes they're worth getting your glasses for. 🧽

A warm Marces reminder of a cleaning truth we all know:

If the house smells weird, do not start with spray.

Start with the source.

Trash.
Sink drain.
Dirty mop water.
Old sponge.
Bathroom towels.
Pet area.
Food crumbs hiding somewhere they should not be hiding.

Air freshener on top of a dirty smell is not “fresh.”

It is lemon over mystery.

A house smells better when the cause is handled first.

Then, if you want a nice scent after that, fine.

But clean has to come before perfume.
